    Squamish Cell

Hi! My mom received her report today. Looking for some guidance. This was a three month follow up scan from her prior scan due to two small nodules (2mm and 3mm). The report stated stable pulmonary nodules, there were also a few tiny nodules that showed up (no size given) and they also stated a 1.1cm ground glass density in right lower lobe that they feel is due to infection. She was pretty sick a month ago, we all got this nasty cold that lasted for a few weeks. She doesn't see her pulmonagist for a few weeks. Can someone tell me if ground glass density is the same as a nodule? Her whole report talk about nodules but this specific section it stated density.

    Squamish Cell

Gosh I have been so busy I forgot to check this post!! Thank you so much for the reply!! Sorry if my post was confusing. No they don't recommend any chemo or radiation they just did surgery. They said there isn't much "proof" that chemo/radiation helps when NSCL when caught at stage 1. So I was just curious since she had the skin cancer if other have heard otherwise if chemo/radiation is helpful!! I know not everyone's story is the same...I was just curious on people's opinion because I didn't know if others had the same situation (crazy how you have also skin cancer..) and so refreshing to read/see how well you are doing!! ? Thanks for all the prayers. I will most definitely keep you all updated!!
  3. Hi!! I hope it's going well for everyone!! It's been months since my mom diagnosis of stage 1 Squamish cell LC and I am still trying to understand "protocol". To the doctors, surgery was all that was needed. No chemo no radiation. Is this really "protocol" for others that have been stage 1? I can't find too many articles about this. Also right before my moms LC diagnosis she was diagnosed with Squamish cell skin cancer. They (her doctors) say that was unrelated to her LC....and I just wonder if that was the case. Any thoughts?? **Its scan-anxiety for us right now. As I mentioned in another post her first follow up showed two tiny spots (2mm and 3mm) too small to biopsy (cause of location) and too small to pick up activity on a PET scan. Sooooo we waited 3 months, her scan is next Monday.**
  4. Hi Helpingmom, I can't answer your question, so glad KatieB could help. But my mom was diagnosed last Fall with NSCLC - stage 1. It's been a rollercoaster since then. I have went to many appointments with her to ask questions and to be another set of ears because it's over whelming. I pray for the best outcome for your mom. As "excited" as we were for my mom to be stage 1, we also know there is a higher chance of return do to it being Squamish cell. The fear will never go away! She has a follow up CT scan in a week and it's weighing on us all!! But on a positive note we are planning a family vacation to help us look forward to the near future!!
  5. Tom- Thank you for your reply and for the informative links. Yes by chance her cancer was found. We feel very lucky about that. No she didn't have any post surgical chemo. Maybe that was a bad decision. But her doctors didn't offer her anything post surgery. They all felt at stage 1a surgery was all she needed. They did say it's very common for recurrence of this type of cancer and she would be monitored closely. I agree on following up with a PET scan. But from what I have read 2mm/3mm nodes won't show up on a PET scan. But I am not a doctor so hopefully this is something she can get. I do plan on going with my mom to her follow up appointment. The waiting stinks! She is hanging in there but I can tell it's eating away at her and I am just trying to inform myself so I can be there more for her, I hate asking her tons of questions. Just curious with your Squamish cell. Did you have recurrence? Did you ever have small nodules that turned out to be nothing?
  6. Hello all! Looking for some insight. Let me start with my moms story. She was diagnosed with Squamish cell 1a, she had her left lower lobe removed. No lymph node activity, all her MRIs / PET scans were clear (expect for her 1.3cm cancerouse node) No other treatment was given. She just had her 6 months follow up CT scan and I don't know all the verbiage but she looked up her report and she read there was a 2 mm spot in her right lung and a 3 mm spot in the lower part of her left lung (this could potentially be from scare tissue, since it's in the area of removal). So my question. I am fully aware that Squamish cell is known to return. But is it common for BENIGN nodules to appear after cancer diagnosis? She will meet with her doctors in the coming week or so. And I am sure it will be a wait and watch approach. Anyone have experience with what we should anticipate?? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
