  1. Hi I wanted to let you know my results were good. The 25 plus tumors have decressed in size and some of them are gone. They were less than a cm in size and now are even smaller.Thank God for answering prayers and thank all of you for praying.Judy
  2. Hi I don't post a lot I have had friends and family come in and have been kept busy.My last MRI showed more brain mets than they could count all over the brain. They put me on Temodar 100mg once a day.All the mets were less than a cm and this drug may help to slow down the growth. My Dr says it is the only chemo drug that will cross the blood brain barrier. If it doesn't work he doesn't know of anything else to try.I have been on it for 6 weeks now and I get my results from the MRI tomorrow. Please pray that this is working.I feel fine my blood counts last time were good.I thank God that I have not had a lot of side effects from any of my treatments. Please pray my results are good tomorrow. If you have any information on Temodar or anything else please let me know.Judy
  3. Thanks to all of you for responding.Sharron the Dr's told me this drug was used for brain tumors but it would cross the blood bairrer to the brain and might slow down the growth.Your post gives me more hope than the Dr's and I have to depend on God no medicine will work if he doesn't want it to. Thank You Judy
  4. I got my test results back on the 21st and they were not good.My lung is still clear but the brain went from one small lesion to more than they can count. They stopped counting at 25.They are all small less than a cm but I have had whole brain radation and can not have it again. The Dr.said all I could do was try TEMIDAR to see if it would slow it down some He doesn't give me much time a few months.Does any one have any information on this drug or this many lesions.Sclc grows so fast and right now I am Ok.I still think pretty good and there is no spread to any other part of my body.My blood count is good but will drop again with this new chemo. Thanks for any information.
  5. Hi Paula, I am sorry about your mom.I am 50 with sclc/mets to the brain. It is a hard thing and treatment can be rough but well worth it.With her age and if she is in good general health they can treat it aggressively. It,s not a death sentence no matter what the Dr's say. Some of us make it!I was DX aug 2005 and today is 6 months for me.I am doing well with only one brain met. left and if it is still there the 15th when I have my next Mri we will treat it with Gamma Knife.Learn all you can about sclc and stay on top of the Dr's.A lot of the Cancer web sites will scare you to death with there 6 to 12 month life spand so skip that part.Read this board and you will find people that are still alive way pass that.Only God can tell me when it's time.I have two daugthers,4 grandghildren and 2 greatgrand children.Another grand child due in March.I have been blessed and I am not ready to leave this earth either. Please tell your mom to fight this monster and set her mind that it will not beat her.Postive thinking goes a long way. Judy
  6. Being tired is due to low blood counts.Has her Dr. given her a shot to help bring them back up? There is medicine for the nause and pain medicine. Is she getting any of this? Self help would be eat a lot of green veg.I had 5 rounds of Chemo and radation at the same time.Chemo was not a problem and I took vitimans.I had anti-nause med.I had one shot when my blood count started to drop lower than the Dr liked that was around my 4th round of chemo. 7. Paula, I am sorry to hear your mother has sclc but you are in the right place for support and information.I also have sclc w/brain mets and I am 50 Dx 8/3/05 Today I have one sm lesion in the brain left and the tumor in the lung is gone.No matter what the Dr.'s say treat it aggressively. She is young and has a good chance. Judy369
  8. Heather,I am so sorry to hear your husband has lung cancer. You did not post a profile so we don't know what kind of lung cancer.I know it is hard but this is the time to fight. Many people beat it!!! Be positive stress is not good and if you are stressed so is your husband.I understand it is hard but he can still live to see that baby grow up.One day at a time and it won't be easy but it is do able.He is very young and that is a plus to beat it. Judy369
  9. Patti62 Hi So glad to hear your sister is doing well.I have sclc w/brain mets. Dx 8/3/05 I had the same Chemo as your sister and radation to the lung at the same time. They did wbr before the Chemo for the brain mets. The tumor in the lung is gone and all but one lesion in the brain I get more scans the middle of Feb.If the brain leison is still there I will have Gamma Knife.Good luck to you and your sister. Judy369
  10. Hi I don't know how old your husband is but giving Chemo and radation at the same time has a lot worse side effects.Ask if you can do radation after chemo or ask about Gamma Knife.I don't know your husbands history so I can't give you much information.Drill your Dr and get all medical records including test and Dr.'s notes.I look up everything I don't understand on the web and I use medical dic.for words I don't understand.Judy369
  11. They are going to use gamma Knife in Feb. if the one leison is still in the brain. But they can not tell me what the leisons in the white brain matter are and since I am not having a problem with them they are just going to watch them. They say it may be damage from the WBR.But they don't really know.I am on Dilantin 100mg 3x a day but I was taken off Dexamethasone 4mg 2x a day a few weeks after WBR was over I have no swelling and have had no seizure activity since the one but because of the leison left they keep me on the anti-seizure medicine. This is the only medicine I take now except for Synthroid for my thyroid and Aciphex for my stomach.I have been taking Synthroid for years.I sit here on my computer for hours reading the post so many of you have gone through so much more than I have with side effects and other things I wish I could post more but it takes me a while.I don't type well and my spelling leaves much to be desired. Thanks for all you are doing on this board it is the best I have seen and I have not even began to see it all.Judy
  12. I have sclc w/mets to the brain.I finished Chemo and WBR the end of Dec.2005 My brain MRI in Dec showed only 1 sm lesion left and it was loosing it,s ring.On this MRI new development of lesions seen on the flair image in the white brain matter worry me They do not look to be cancer they have no abnormal enhancements and no mass effect. My Dr.s say it may be from the WBR and we will watch it.Does anyone have any information about this.I posted a profile but I don't know if I did it right. Thanks Judy
  13. Hi some of you have ask for my profile but I can't seem to find where to write it.I never dreamed of such responce. Thank you all.I will be looking around the site as time allows me.Please let me know how to do my profile. Judy
  14. I am new and don't know much about message boards but I can use as much support as I can get. I am a 50 years old female.I was not sick had to signs of anything. On Aug.2 ,2005 three days before my 50th birthday I had a seizure while pulling into the parking lot of a Walmarts. My daugther and her 5 year old son was with me. I was taken to the emergency and they did test. They told me I had sclc and it had spread to the brain and I had 5 leisons in my brain.I never dreamed I was even sick. They begain 14 days of whole brain radation 35 grays and 1 week later I started Chemo with Carboplatin and etoposide. 5 weeks of that along with radation to the lung.Something they don't do often I understand for several reasons but I wanted to be very aggressive with the treatment as long as my body would handle it. I was very lucky and did well with few side effects. Today my lung is clear and I have only one small leison left in the brain along with some white brain matter leisons that don't look to be cancer. Most likely it is damage from the whole brain radation. They will do another MRI in Feb.and do gamma knife if the cancerous lesion is still there. Thats my cancer history.I worry about the leisons in the white brain matter they say that they are doing no damage.Does anyone know about this? Judy
