  1. I always admired the dignity with how Carole fought this horrific cancer, she was a beautiful and brave person through it all, and I will miss seeing her cheerful, hopeful posts. Rest in peace sweet lady.
  2. {{{Tammy}}} I am very so sorry for your loss. Greg fought the good fight and was very brave at the end. I hope that you and your family can find peace knowing that Greg is now without pain and waits to see you again.
  3. {{{Linda}}} No real advice to offer, but wanted to let you know that I am thinking about you and hoping you will be feeling better and better each and every day. I know this might seem like an obvious question but your symptoms sound like my mom's when she gets an abscess on her lung (once a year or so), and I was wondering if the doc has you on a steroid...the only thing (with the antibiotic) that knocks out the infection.
  4. Hi, I am sorry that your dad and family are facing this horrific disease. You are so right, the minute you get the news, you immediately feel as if you are thrust onto the middle of the worse roller coaster ride you have even been on in your life. You are doing great in terms of supporting and advocating for your father, and I hope all will eventually settle down for everyone. All the best - keep the hope!
  5. Congratulatons Colleen!!! Keep that fighting spirit always!
  6. {{{Marci, Mom and family}}} Thinking of you and hoping that things settle down for your mom real soon, and she can continue with her treatment shortly.
  7. {{Tammy}} I'm sorry about Greg's latest struggles and hope that the docs will be able to help him get back on his feet and home again real soon!!

    Minor Setback

(((Rob))) Wishing you a successful surgery on the 16th and good results thereafter!
  9. As you asked in your post, nothing will stop her until she 1) wants to quit and 2) is ready to quit. My mom (diagnosed in 2006) quit around 1988 after she was suffering with severe COPD, and even as I watched her struggle to breathe over the years, I continued to smoke until about a month before her diagnosis. Smoking is such a powerful addiction - one that is very hard to overcome, even when we see what it has done to our loved ones. You have planted the seed with your daughter, and hopefully one day, she will find the will to quit.
  10. Agree with the others, get a second opinion. In my mom''s case, her first team of doctors would not even consider the possibility of surgery because they said her lung function was too low. Knowing that surgery was the only possible curative action, my brother personally wrote to a thorasic surgeon at the University of Penn (Dr. Larry Kaiser), and he agreed to take a look at her case. He did and within 6 weeks, he operated on her and removed her lower right lobe and some surrounding lymph nodes. We believe that without the surgery, she would not be here with us today. You will have fight and advocate for your mom to get the answers and the course of action that gives her the best chance for a cure! I wish you all the best...don''t give up.')
  11. Dear Jude & Amanda, I was very saddened to hear about Don's passing. I didn't talk to Don very much personally but have been following his story since I first found this forum, and I was always touched by the kindness and compassion that he displayed to all that posted on this forum. He never complained about the hard road he had been on for these many years, but instead focused his energy on offering his loving support and advice to fellow posters. Amazing man - and one that I will always remember. May you find peace during this very difficult time. Diane
