  8. The Wisdom In Hot Chocolate A group of graduates, well established in their careers, were discussing their lives at a class reunion. They decided to go visit their old university professor, now retired, who was always an inspiration to them. During their visit, the conversation turned to complaints about stress in their work, lives and relationships. Offering his guests hot chocolate, the professor went into the kitchen and returned with a large pot of hot chocolate and an assortment of cups. Some cups were porcelain, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite. He invited each to help themselves to the hot chocolate. When they all had a cup of hot chocolate in hand, the professor shared his thoughts. "Notice that all the nice looking, expensive cups were taken, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones." "While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress." "The cup that you are drinking from adds nothing to the quality of the hot chocolate. In most cases it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink." "What each of you really wanted was hot chocolate. You did not want the cup . . . but you consciously went for the best cups." "And soon, you began to eye one another’s cups." "Now friends, please consider this . . . "Life is the hot chocolate . . . your job, money and position in society are the cups." "They are just tools to hold and contain life." "The cup you have does not define, nor does it change, the quality of life you are living." "Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the hot chocolate God has provided us." Always remember this . . . . . . . . . . God brews the hot chocolate, He does not choose the cup. The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything that they have!! Live simply . . . Love generously . . . Care deeply . . . Speak kindly . . . Leave the rest to God. ~ and remember ~ The richest person is not the one who has the most, but the one who needs the least. Enjoy your hot chocolate!!

  10. I definitely think that fame and fortune comes with a price and being followed and having cameras flash in your face is part of that price you pay for being a celebrity.
  11. Poor Ole Panty Stitcher Sven and Ole worked together and both were laid off, so off they went to the unemployment office. Asked his occupation, Ole said, "Panty stitcher; I sew the elastic onto cotton panties." The clerk looked up panty stitcher. Finding it classified as unskilled labor, she gave him $300 a week unemployment pay. Sven was asked his occupation. "Diesel fitter," he replied. Since diesel fitter was a skilled job, the clerk gave Sven $600 a week. When Ole found out he was furious. He stormed back into the unemployment office to find out why his friend and co-worker was collecting double his pay. The clerk explained that panty stitchers were unskilled and diesel fitters were skilled labor. "What skill?" yelled Ole. "I sew the elastic on, Sven pulls on it and says, 'Yep, diesel fitter.'"
  12. The paparazzi in Hollywood are becoming more and more aggressive, often stalking famous celebrities 24-7. Do you think there should be laws preventing this behavior, or does it come with the territory?
  13. SICK OF ANGEL E-MAILS OK.... BE HONEST... how many of you REALLY ENJOY getting little angel love notes from every person in your address book? You know the ones with 'I love you so... here's an angel... and some mushy poem crap.... ' And like the cute wasn't bad enough, they then THREATEN you with bad luck if you don't send it on to others and back to them to prove you read the email! A vicious tactic! So here's my version: Take the fairy dust: Add it to one of those angels: And POOF!!!!.... He's good luck because he probably made you smile. When you're finished trying to see up his loincloth, (AND YOU JUST LOOKED AGAIN, DIDN'T YOU??), why not send this on to some of your girlfriends to make them smile, too?
  14. I need your ideas....please!!! I have a Sock Hop to go to tomorrow night and I have everything I need except for socks. I need to buy a pair of socks that can have a nice big cuff when rolled down....like Bobby Socks. I have looked at K-Mart, Walmart and Target but have found nothing. Anyone have any ideas where I might look on such short notice???
  15. I have to say that I usually do speak my mind...loud and clear. But, there are certain people that I just tend to agree with, keep my mouth shut and continue forward. I guess that just makes life easier.
  16. Do you always let people know what you really think?
  17. The 12 Days of Thanksgiving On the First Day... We give thanks for the fresh turkey feast and its hot trimmings. On the Second Day... We bless the cold turkey sandwiches, sloshy cranberry sauce, and hard rolls. On the Third Day... We praise the turkey pie and vintage mixed veggies. On the Fourth Day... We thank the pilgrims for not serving bison that first time, or we'd be celebrating Thanksgiving in April. On the Fifth Day... We gobble up cubed bird casserole and pray for a glimpse of a naked turkey carcass. On the Sixth Day... We show gratitude (sort of) to the creative cook who slings cashews at the turkey and calls it Oriental. On the Seventh Day... We forgive our forefathers and pass the turkey-nugget pizza. On the Eighth Day... The word "vegetarian" keeps popping into our heads. On the Ninth Day... We check our hair to make sure we're not beginning to sprout feathers. On the Tenth Day... We hope that the wing meat kabobs catch fire under the broiler. On the Eleventh Day... We smile over the creamed gizzard because the thigh bones are in sight. On the Twelfth Day... We apologize for running out of turkey leftovers. And everybody says Amen.
  18. Life of a dog through the eyes of a 6 year old Of course, I'm not a veterinarian, but have had a dog as a pet for the very great majority of my life. This was shared with me earlier today, and I decided to share it here... Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife, Lisa, and their little boy, Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle. I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn't do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home. As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience. The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker's family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away. The little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker's death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, 'I know why. 'Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I'd never heard a more comforting explanation. He said, 'People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life -- like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?' The six-year-old continued, 'Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long. Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like: When loved ones come home, always run to greet them. Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride. Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy. Take naps. Stretch before rising. Run, romp, and play daily. Thrive on attention and let people touch you. Avoid biting when a simple growl will do. On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass. On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree. When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body. Delight in the simple joy of a long walk. Eat with gusto and enthusiasm. Stop when you have had enough. Be loyal. Never pretend to be something you're not. If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it. When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently. Be always grateful for each new day.
  19. You are driving in a car at a constant speed. On your left side is a 'drop off', (The ground is 18-20 inches below the level you are traveling on), and on your right side is a fire engine traveling at the same speed as you. In front of you is a galloping horse, which is the same size as your car and you cannot overtake it. Behind you is a galloping zebra. Both the horse and zebra are also travelling at the same speed as you. What must you do to safely get out of this highly dangerous situation?
