  1. Jen, My husband Chris was diagnosed 8/04 with Ext. SCLC w/ 4 brain mets. Had 35+ WBR, chemo, lung radiation. All gone. 6 weeks later, 24 brain mets, cloudy lung. Topotecan started. After 2 sets of Topo, innumerable brain mets. No mets anywhere else. Passed away April 26th, 2005. His course was much different than yours. His Onc. has said that Topo works very well on some people. I pray with all my heart it works for you. Lori
  2. Dr. Joe, I have a question for you regarding the point you brought up being Japanese. My husband just finished his 4th and last round of chemo (cisplatin/etoposide) just today. He is 1/2 Japanese. His mother died in "92 of sclc as well and received the same treatment. She was full Japanese. Would bringing up his heritate to his doctor, make a difference?? If by chance he has to go through more chemo, could this change the course? Thank you very much, Lori
  3. Pam, Good to hear Richard is doing better. Every pound gained back is so encouraging. My prayers are with you. Lori
  4. Welcome Don, Thank you so much for your post. Your upbeat personality put a smile on my face this morning. I don't find my self smiling much anymore, but I am really trying. Stories like yours give myself and others hope. Coming here every morning before work, really helps start off my day. Take care Don, and keep posting. Lori
  5. Hi Kim I know exactly how you feel. My Mom and Grandma are 4 hours away as well. My Grandma has been very sick lately, but I haven't been able to go. The stress of everything was killing my stomach. I try to take just a few minutes to sit and breathe. Take care and you and your Mom are in my prayers. Lori
  6. I liked this one! Had a good laugh! Lori
  7. Hi Kathy, My husband has done pretty well on chemo. Everyone is different. The anti nausea meds have helped, I am pretty sure. Just take it one day at a time. What my husband complains most about is that it takes too long. Good luck neighbor, and you are in my prayers. Oh, Natalie is a doll. I am a suck up for the cute little ones. Have 2 yorkies, thus the name "Loyork." Take care, Lori
  8. James, My heart is with you. My son is 19 as well. He is dealing with this in his own way. Being quiet and not talking about it. Get the most information you can. I really does help. Please tell your mom I will add her to my prayers. Be strong. Lori
  9. Doug, Thank you for sharing your story. The part you wrote about depression is true. My husband just started some medication yesterday. He said he has to keep moving and working so he doesn't get depressed and start thinking about the cancer. Glad you are here and WELCOME! Lori
  10. Hi Kim, I am new here too. Your Mom sounds like a wonderful person. Keep us up to date and WELCOME! Lori
  11. Thank you all so very much for your warm welcomes. I have debated for quite some time whether to join or lurk. Well you know, you just need someone, sometime to talk to who truely understands. Everything I have read so far has warmed my heart and calmed my stresses. I have learned most of my information from this board. We have our own business and when Chris is gone to chemo or rad, I need to be at work. I only went to the very first chemo treatment for a short time. Chris insists on driving himself. He really won't even talk about all of this either. So I am somewhat in the dark. So as the weeks go by, I will be here every day. It really does help me. Thank you again everyone for your help. Lori
  12. Hello Everyone, I found this board shortly after my husband was diagnosed. I come here every day for a little inspiration and knowledge. My husband is 46 and has SCLC with brain mets X4. He is doing as well as can be expected. He continues to work every day, but of course is much slower than usual. I have read quite a few of the posts and have learned quite a bit. Thank you for being here! Lori
