Peggy, I don't have any words of wisdom, just know that you and Don are in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi everyone. We just found out last week that my mom's cancer is growing again. She is supposed to start chemo later this week. The onc plans to use cisplatin and camptosar. I'm really concerned about the camptosar since my mom spends around 3 days out of a week (on average) in bed due to extreme nausea already. Should we be asking for a different kind of chemo? If so, which one? Topotecan? Thanks in advance for your input. Also, I think I'll post this in the Ask the Experts section.

There just aren't words to describe how this makes me feel. I am so sorry to hear this news. It really hit me like a ton of bricks.

Val, Hi! I don't have any experience with Alimta, but I do want to tell you that my mom has had several bad days in the past few months which led me to believe she must be getting worse. In reality, they were just bumps in the road. I think it's very difficult for those of us looking on to accept that the patient is going to have rough days, especially with chemo and radiation. I hope your mom starts to feel better soon. I am so glad you get to go spend time with her in the not too distant future. Sending nothing but prayers and good wishes your way.

I saw it too. I thought it was great that they had an episode about lung cancer, but I was a little upset that they didn't use the correct terminology (one of them said it was stage 3 and you would usually use extensive or limited for SCLC).
