    I am Ok!!

Hi! Iam OK here in Balto.County. Have been in the hospital, beause of effects of Head Radiation. Also, some strange reaction to one of the meds I was given. Can't even use the computer! Brain doesn'work! Please no more e-mails- can't kep up with them! My good loyal LC friends! I found the board; took me an hour, until I remembered! Silly? No, frightening! More another time! Will get results of new MRI early nexr week-will let you knoe if I can find thes site again! I think I lost me! Help! Love , Marge
  2. Last Thursday, May 12, I finished my WBR, 14 days of it. Got a paper about what to do and expect. All kinds of warnings! One line said to "expect fatigue." No kidding! I feel like a rag doll; no energy at all! If I sit down to rest I fall asleep! Talking to two friends, it is not unusual! Will take 2-3 more weeks to feel more alive! I hope! I do feel it is wonderful that they can do this to kill the brain mets! God bless our Doctors! Love, Marge
  3. Ten days down and four more days of WBR! No problems, yet. My scalp is a little sore, like sunburn. Decadron keeps me awake some nights. Dr. gave me some Ambien and I have used it. How do you stop this stuff? Give up sleeping? Have had a 3rd opinion and This Onco has different idea about another chemo-#4! So, it is CAV vs. Gemsar. Any one knows anything, I am listening! You have all been a big help! So nice everyone understands! LOve, Marge
  4. Hi, Jen! I am two days ahead of you! I started WBR on Monday. The first day is a pain. Much medical history, a movie to watch and they must set the radiation machine to hit the spots they want to hit. Mine hold my head in place with a piece of tape and have a shield for my eyes, on the arm of the machine. My Radiation Doc. Put me on Decadron, 2mgs. twice a day, because I told him the the stuff makes me "nuttsy." He also gave me a Rx for Ambien, so I can sleep. I will have radiation 5 days a week for three weeks. So far, no problems! I am tired from worry! Otherwise OK! Call me! Love, Marge PS. We will go forward together! Never give up!
  5. Hi! I got my bad news on Friday; I had an MRI, because of some mild headaches I had been having. I did not think I had brain mets! When I got home, there was a message from my Onco to call him. I do have brain mets and started radiation on Monday. My Doc was quick to make the arrangements! Monday's appointment took some time, because they had to make the settings on the machine. Today was fast; I was early and had to wait my turn and then, it took about 10 minutes! Didn't hurt; no burn, don't even have to get undressed. Jen, wear something warm; it's cold in there! Will answer the rest in your post! Love, Marge
  6. Jen, Yes! I saw the show! Bob was out and I was holding the remote for a change. I turned it on, not expecting to hear about small cell LC! I am glad it is finally on the TV and other news. The show was very sad, but the husband was finally "bonding" with his newborn son, at the end. BTW, has anyone heard if Peter Jennings has small cell, for sure? He is being rushed into chemo as if it is. Maybe a celebrity can help us to get some research going! Chins up and keep fighting! Love, Marge
  7. Betty! Oh, my! I am so sad to hear this! You have been a source of inspiration for me since I joined! You have always been upbeat and even now, are willing to accept the future, as it is! I will join the other members here who are praying for a miracle. Love, Marge
  8. Uncle Doug! Please stop waiting for nausea! It may never come! I had 6 rounds of three days of the same drugs, (every 21 days),you are on and never got sick. I felt slight nauseaous once; a pill took care of that! Meds used with my chemo stop the nausea! Isn't that great! Love, Marge
  9. Jen! Thanks for posting this! I bought a Radon Detecting Kit a week or so ago and haven't used it, yet. I suspect radon, because of the large numbers of cancer victims in the neighborhood. We have people with breast cancer, bladder cancer, ovarian cancer and pancreatic cancer. This is what I remember, without asking family members. These people all were within a 3 block area. One of the girls who grew up here lost a child to Luekemia! Because it was a lovely day, Husband aired out the basement! Will need to wait! Will start the test, soon! We have City Water, Addie, but I have three adult children living on well water. I must tell them! Half of my life has been spent in this basement for 48+ years! Washing, ironing, sewing, crafting and now, my computer is down here! And guess what else I did down here? Yes! I smoked! Wonderful! Never even heard of Radon in the 50's when we bought the house! Too late for me, but the children???? Love, Marge
  10. Deruo! So sorry for the loss of your Mother! She was blessed to have such a caring child! I am sure she knew how much she was loved and will be watching over you for a long time! Love, Marge

    He's gone...

Summer, so sorry for the loss of your partner! Life gets very hard at times! I will remember both of you in my prayers! Now, take care of yourself! Love, Marge
  12. Happy Birthday! Jen! It makes me happy to know you have made almost a year! That gives me hope! I am sure it makes others feel better, too. This is such nasty stuff! You have done well and are one strong lady! I include you and all here in my prayers! Like to hear good news. Next I hope your ovaries just quiet down and make eveeryone wonder what that was all about! Love, Marge
  13. Di! So glad you are feeling better! Those gallstones can really make you feel terrible! Was with my Mother-in-Law when she had an attack; was miserable! I felt so sorry for her! Glad doctor was able to help you to feel better so quickly! Hope the rest of the healing goes quickly, too. Enjoy the spring! Love, Marge

    Pet Scan

Dennis! Please tell your wife that the PET Scan is not bad! The tube is short, so some part of your body is always sticking out. The tube is not nearly as small and close as the tube for an MRI. You can almost always see daylight at the end of the tube and hear the Technican. I've had both and much prefer the PET Scan. Good luck to her! Marge
  15. Thanks for all the kind, loving support! This is one bunch of great people! All have the same kind of difficult problem and still have time to give a good word for someone else! Love you all! Marge
