OK, mom has given signs. Not like Obi Wan Kenobi with Luke, but pretty darn good ones for sure.
When I wass in 3th grade, my mom got her dream car. 1978 silver anniversary corvette. Very rare then, extremely rare now! Honestly I haven't seen one since I was maybe in 6th-7th grade (when my mom couldn't maintain the car anymore and got rid of it).
Well today, the 5th Mother's day without her, we were running a little late, but had to get gas. And as I pumped I saw the flared wheel wells of a silver corvette pull in. It was the two toned silver. T tops off. Couldn't see the back spoiler (78 was rounded, other years flared) and I couldn't see the hood ornament (special edition). As the guy walked out of the gas station, I asked him "78?"
"Yeah."
"Silver anniversary, haven't seen one of those in a long time. "
As we pulled out, I told Sophie to look out the window, this was Grammy's favorite car. She had one just like it.
I think mom popped down to say hi today...

I'm so sorry to hear about your mother. I can only imagine how difficult this time and level of pain and grief you've to endure. Please keep moving forward. 

it is a hard road ahead of course... one of the things I used to do and still do when the weather is nicer is go outside at night under the stars and talk... discuss anything and everything on your mind....fuss and curse if your mad and apologize when your done of course for that.. it is ok.... you have to get the bad energy and the bad grief off your mind and soul.. this gives you somewhat of a break form the normal routine.. Now your thinking how do I know she heard me talking? in time you will get a sign... be it a smell a vision of something you both enjoyed... Mine is bunny rabbits in the yard... I was my wifes honey bunny so that is my sign to this day...a friend of mine who lost his son sees butterflies and thunderstorms as their sign..

I am truly sorry to hear that your father has cancer. Glad to hear you have found supportive health professionals and they are moving quickly.
Even if you father cannot be part of a study due to the spread, there are some new immunotherapy options that have already been approved by the FDA, depending of course on the type of cancer and the specific DNA of same.
We lost my mother to NSCLC this month, distance of family was an issue for us too. I'm glad you have both been able to see and spend time with your father, to lend that support that I'm sure he appreciates right now.
Your father sounds like a fighter. I know that will help not just him, but you two also.
