Hey Pat, good to 'see' you. I don't log onto facebook much either, but I love when I see a post out there from 'my pat'. Especially when I hear a spark in your voice and I know you have had a good day. I hope January is riding along smoother after the huge speed bump that started the month. you are in my thoughts, Lynne

Kasey, I haven't peeked onto the site in over 2 months, and this is the post that caught my eye! I am thrilled with your post, inspired by your determination, and overwhelmed by your immense compassion for everyone else..........you are truly the BEST....Congratulations on 5 years very well lived....... Big Hug Lynne

Congratulations Beth! I rarely post these days but I do sign on to see how everyone is doing. I was so surprised and delighted to see this update from you! Enjoy every precious moment with your new husband and continue to spoil the boys....... Lynne

New Year's Eve, 2004, Jim started having excruciating pain in his left lower abdomen. Went to the ER. Suspected bad turkey sandwich, kidney stone, etc. Before the night was over, scans detected tumors in the lung and adrenal. Upstairs to the Cancer Floor and things were never the same again. In retrospect, other symptoms were present but thought to be related to other issues: weight loss, shoulder pain that my massages didn't seem to touch, fatigue..... Lynne

I'm sorry you are having to deal with this! But I'm glad you had a doctor that was on top of it. My sister had a malignant melanoma on her leg (she was in her 30's) and they caught it really early. Did the surgery and made sure they took all the margins, just to be safe. She gets checked regularly and is doing great. Let us know what the plan is when you get more information..... Lynne

This is really superficial. I always wear boring black or jeans to work, but broke the mold and wore a colorful print sweater today and received many compliments. Now, it could be they were so shocked to see my sweater before they saw me coming 'round the corner, but I choose to believe they loved me in the sweater! Sometimes you hold on to what you can out of any given day! lynne

My Pat, It's now 9 days later and I just read your post. Perhaps today is a smidgeon less lonely, or maybe you were able to watch the critters outside as Brian loved to do...... Two lucky men, one lucky lady...... L, Lynne

Eat, Pray, Love. The first book I've been able to read in a long time. My attention span and focus are a little on the crazy side! Interesting book, interesting author, interesting findings on her spiritual journey..... Thanks Ann, Lynne

Hi jmills, Wonderful that you get to spend the month with your Mom! My husband struggled with a bad cough quite a bit, but I think it was after his chest radiation. From my reading here, seems like that symptom varies from person to person. My husband was a long-time smoker. Initially, he cut back and considered quitting, but I really think that added more stress at a time when he needed less stress. So, he continued to smoke throughout his treatments, which for him, was probably the best choice. Again, people have different thoughts in this area, but supporting and loving her is the best medicine you can give her. Take care of yourself, Lynne

Deanne, What wonderful news! And a cruise to boot! I loved reading your profile. It is lovely to see 'love' in action. Enjoy the happiest of holidays! Lynne

Karen, Welcome. I see you were a night owl at 2:00 in the morning posting! You need to get some good rest and it is so encouraging to read that you like the medical team tending to your Mom. That makes a huge difference in everyone's stress levels..... I think you will find the people here to be the most supportive, loving, group of on-line 'friends' that truly understand your concerns and fears. Nice to meet you, Lynne

Hi Jim, Excellent news that the doctors are right on top of this early. Keep us posted. Lynne

My Pat! Just saw your post. Well, all should know that I've been calling you 'My Pat' for a while now, so I think that might just trump the other offers! (not that I'm hoarding you, or anything) A few of my friends (mostly with no children, but some with grown ones) and I have been talking ALL year about the type of Community that you describe! One with some common areas and then the 'private' spaces for each community family member. Kase, of course there would be grand accommodations for critters of all kinds. The Community would watch out for each other - help with light bulbs (Pat, I have one just as you describe - I still have the ladder and pliers out and have given up), dog-sitting, chats over cocoa, etc......and always an available hug...... Today, I'm sitting at home with ice on all the roads too. I'll be with you as I sip hot cocoa and turn up the Christmas carols....... Love Lynne

YEA! It is Saturday! It's misty, foggy, cold here which gives me a good excuse to lay around in bed with a book and a long nap.....Of course, my Estee dog is my 'you cannot lay around all day' alarm clock and impolitely nudges me when the nap has exceeded her definition of reasonable..... I'm drinking some hot cocoa with holiday music playing.....I invite you to join me....

Hi, I'm Lynne. I have lived in Oklahoma City for 25+ years (but raised as a Texan) and am a computer specialist for the Federal Aviation Administration. I am 48 with 49 around the corner. Jim was my best friend and husband for 28 years until he passed away on March 31, 2005, at the age of 54. No kiddies. We had doggies instead. Sadie passed on after Jim and now it is just wild child Estee the Terrier and myself carrying on. She makes me smile and laugh! I don't post much anymore but it's always comforting to come hear and see how everyone is doing....

My Pat! I don't visit often but wandered out here tonight and saw your post! Perhaps something is drawing us back here to the people that were so good and caring to us.......nice to 'see' you... love, lynne

Ginny, Nice to hear your positive words. Leave it to such a gracious lady to think of others even when faced with losing Earl too soon. Your inspiring words remind me to cherish the memories and to remember to try to live life fully. I hope Saturday was full of good memories like every other day! Lynne

Tina, I am so sorry. It's just so unfair. I know this journey is going to be so tough for you. You are in my thoughts. I am sending my virtual warm, soft, fuzzy towels to wrap around your head when you just need to hide for a moment. Thinking of you, Lynne
