    Alimta

Any body on Alimta? Side effects, success stories, etc. I start next Monday on alimta. First chemo platinum, then opdivo.
  3. I have been on Opdivo since June 2016. Infusion every two weeks. Side effects: fatigue (doesn't keep me from doing what I want to do), muscle aches a few days after infusion. CT scans every 8 weeks. All have shown no new cancer and no new growth until the last scan. Showed a few miniscul new spots. Will recheck next scan (3 weeks).
  4. Thank you. Congrats on the success. I hope you many more years of no new growth and no new cancer.
  5. Thank you for your reply. Are you still on Opdivo?

    Ct scan

I was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in January 2016. Started Opdivo in June after 6 sessions of platinum chemo. Each ct scan has shown no new growth and no new cancer, which is good. My last ct scan showed no growth in the original spot on my lung but did show several new minuscule spots. My oncologist and myself decided to continue the current Opdivo therapy and revaluate with the next ct scan in 7 weeks. Has anyone had this experience with Opdivo and if so, was there improvement when the original treatment was continued or more growth and a switch to a new therapy? Quote Edit

  8. I was diagnosed with stage 4 non small cell lung cancer 1/13/16. I had 10 sessions of radiation for cancer in my hips and 6 sessions of taxol/carbo. The hips are healing and the pain is minimal. CT scan showed the tumor on my lung and the tumor on my sternum had both shrunk. My oncologist was very happy with the progress. I started Opdivo in June. All scans have showed no new growth and no new cancer. The side effects are minimal. Overall muscle aches at times and some fatigue, but I can live with these effects. Good luck to you and your husband. Battle on

  11. Hi jg_miller,

I was on Optivo for almost 2 years.  Side effects, like yours, minimal with fatigue being the worst of it. The other side effect for me was mostly shortness of breath.

After having undergone an upper right lobectomy, I was treated with chemo for the remaining two lymph nodes that were tested positive for non small cell. When they reappeared I was treated with Chemo and radiation. When they reappeared again  I began the Optivo.

I was on a clinical trial and it required cat scans every 8 weeks. There were times the two small  tumors outside the lung did grow that were noted during those scans.  No need to panic!  The very next scan they would shrink again .It worked well for me for two years.  The clinical trail only allowed for a certain amount of growth (minimal) and when they eventually exceeded that growth I was no longer allowed to participate.  Thus I am now doing proton radiation.

Hope this answers some of your questions.  Normthek

  13. As I stated before, not one person can appeal or amend an existing law. It takes the governing body. The congress, senate, and then the president. Checks and balances. The ACA, before any changes, will come before a committee to be examined. We don't need chicken littles telling us the sky is falling. We have a strong nation and we will move forward without leaving anybody behind. I am living with this thing called cancer and God guides my steps and gives me strength. I chose to pick my battles well. I will continue to battle on against cancer! I don't come to this sight to talk politics or to cause concerns. I come here for encouragement and information regarding lung cancer.
  14. As I understand, the Republicans do not want to appeal the ACA in its entirety. The positive aspects will be kept, like the acceptance of pre-existing conditions, no annual and lifetime maximums. The act itself can not be appealed once it is law according to the constitution. It can only be amended. Don't panic. Our country is not going to implode. There are checks and balances our forefathers included in the constitution to prevent this from happening.
