  1. Hi everyone, My name is Kristy. I lost my mother to Stage IV NSCLC on September 4. Only 5 days after diagnosis. I think I just moved from the numb/shock stage to the realization that she is gone. The pain, anxiety, and just lost feeling is where I am at now. I guess I am looking for support from others who have dealt with this and who are knowledgeable about this. I just don't see how this happened. We had no clue that this is what was going on. She had rib pain a few months prior but just thought it was a muscle pull. Then she started to lose weight, but she attributed it to her thyroid issue. So she never went to the doctor. One Monday she had difficulty breathing and went the ER. She remembered my symptoms when I had a blood clot in my lung and went. They found a blood clot in the lung as well as two tumors in the right lung, spots in her left lung, kidneys, liver, and adrenal glands. And that is only what the scan showed. It could have been elsewhere. They found a previously broken rib so I am thinking the cancer went to the bones. She also had confusion here and there immediately prior to the ER visit so I think it may have spread to the brain. She had some good days in the hospital so I thought that was a good sign and she would be going home to fight this. I mean, people just aren't diagnosed one day and pass a few days later. I am guessing she passed from complications due to the lung cancer or that she was just too weak and her heart gave out. I miss her horribly and don't know where to go now. Thank you all for your time. Kristy
