  1. Hi, I had been on the Optiva clinical trial for 2 years. When it stopped working effectively I chose to do Proton Radiation at Penn. If anyone would like information about undergoing Proton Radiation please feel free to contact me either through Lungevity or at my email; normthek@aol.com.
  2. Hi jg_miller,

I was on Optivo for almost 2 years.  Side effects, like yours, minimal with fatigue being the worst of it. The other side effect for me was mostly shortness of breath.

After having undergone an upper right lobectomy, I was treated with chemo for the remaining two lymph nodes that were tested positive for non small cell. When they reappeared I was treated with Chemo and radiation. When they reappeared again  I began the Optivo.

I was on a clinical trial and it required cat scans every 8 weeks. There were times the two small  tumors outside the lung did grow that were noted during those scans.  No need to panic!  The very next scan they would shrink again .It worked well for me for two years.  The clinical trail only allowed for a certain amount of growth (minimal) and when they eventually exceeded that growth I was no longer allowed to participate.  Thus I am now doing proton radiation.

Hope this answers some of your questions.  Normthek

  3. Hi, Just a quick introduction of a now 64 year old man with stage 4 lung non small cell lung cancer. I have been arguing with this disease for 4 years now and as I listed the various forms of treatments that I have undergone. I won't bore anyone with the details but would be more then happy to answer anyone's questions about any of the treatments that I have had. There seem to be numerous questions about immunology drugs such as Optivo. If I can help just shout at me (or a soft whisper would do fine).
