  1. infusion #26 for this Thursday canceled today. The CT due after the final canceled, port will not be removed.. canceled. Doctor didn't think the Cancer Clinic was a safe place for me. There will be no future infusions for me with a maybe sometime in future when things settle down. They did not close the clinic but the fact that I was NED 3 months ago was part of the decision. Anyone else canceled or delayed? I wish the best for my fellow travelers on this journey ..Stay Safe Why do they call it the novel coronavirus? It’s a long story…. Why didn’t the sick guy get the joke? It flu over his head. Why don’t chefs find coronavirus jokes funny? They’re in bad taste. I’ll tell you a coronavirus joke now, but you’ll have to wait two weeks to see if you got it. Nail salons, hair salons, waxing center and tanning places are closed. It’s about to get ugly out there. Finland just closed its borders. You know what that means. No one will be crossing the finish line.
  2. #25 done with good blood work and some fatigue When I got to the cancer clinic I was check out before I could get in the building. There are no guests allowed. Something new, everyone was wearing a mask, no smiles from my nurses, no newspaper or mags. Doc said he is not sure I can get #26 if someone in the clinic tests positive for Corvid 19. All CT's are on hold so no final result (was ned last check). The clinic has 8 pods with 8 chairs each and now there are just 3 chairs in a pod to keep us away from the other patients. I found out last week that many of the groceries in town allow online orders and pay with delivery or pick at the store, they bring to your car. good luck to my fellow Durvies.. Joke #1 I know a great joke about Corona Virus, you probably won't get it though. Bonus joke... Day 3 without sports. Found a lady sitting on my couch yesterday. Apparently she is my wife. She seems nice. ,
  3. #24 today with normal blood work and some fatigue. Kate and Barb ...Great news to hear NED from two today. I know Barb was concerned about the side effects before you started to get Durva and you got the best one NED!! "Why do cancer patients love puns? They have a great sense of tumor"
  4. DKF I've already heard like seven cancer puns today... If I hear tumor it's gonna benign
  5. Babs ... turmor scar tissue and no signs of cancer cells is great news. I am NED and the scar tissue still shows on my CT. It is advised that we all get our thyroid checked, it was the cause of my fatigue. I was given levothyroxine and in about 6 weeks fatigue much less. Have your husband take notes so you can read them at home, it helped me. "When tempted to fight fire with fire, always remember… The fire department usually uses water."
  6. Hi Babs ..Please complain.. this is the place to do that and it helps to inform others that may think it's just them. My side effects started to go away after infusion #9, my thing was fatigue because they were not checking my TSH and I went up to 130+, now down to 5.1 with medication. Tell you doc of your side effects, he may be able to help with that. Hope you get great CT results.. "A TV can insult your intelligence. But nothing rubs it in like a computer."
  7. Hi Polly it's good hear your on your way with Durva and your killing your cancer. I look at side effects as part of the battle going on in your cells with the Chemo and radiation still in the fight and now getting help from Durva. It's OK for you to call your Doc anytime you have a worry and he-she may have some help for you & or ask here and someone may have an answer. keep us posted and drink lots of water "I have a lot of growing up to do. I realized that the other day inside my fort."
  8. Eagle 13 .... good to hear you have no progression.. OK more than good ... That's Great!! Kate 7617 I hope you get good news on your Petscan. I second Eagle13.. Request a biomarker test, they may have something like he has for you. Please check in and let us know results.. Grahm Great news on your reduction and a good start on Durva Carry on Cancer warriors as we fight the good fight.. I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it
  9. #23 done last thrusday, blood work in normal range.. just some fatigue on the day. Barb ... how was your #22? Hope your doing well. Money talks. But all mine ever says is goodbye
  10. TJM ... your are incorrect , Eugene is the best PAC 12 football team and town with the best Green and yellow, we won the Rose Bowl this year. Go Ducks!! "Worrying works! More than 90 percent of the things I worry about never happen."
  11. Kate7617 .. sorry to hear you are having side effects, this is the 1st I have heard that durva caused basel skin cancer. This info. may be of use to you https://hemppedia.org/cbd-oil-skin-cancer/ From reading this forum I've notice that most side effects happen around infusion 5-7 and then our bodies start adjust . Fatigue is almost always an issue. My guess is your about to feel better. Your Onc gives you Durva with curative intent and you can see people becoming NED from getting it. Some good news is that we get Durva, only released to the public 2 years ago and before that all they could do was wait and watch for cancer to return.. we are very lucky to get this. The past if over, the future isn't here... be here now. Best of luck on your journey, you are not alone. A pun, a play on words and a limerick walk into a bar. No joke
  12. DKF really happy to read your success and joining the NED club. It's nice of you to let others know that PDL-1 is not required to get NED. When you come to Oregon if you find yourself and husband in Eugene there is this https://www.eugenesaturdaymarket.org/ ..the longest running saturday market in the USA. Two Hippies are walking down a railroad track stoned.. One Hippie says "This is a really a long staircase!" The other Hippie says "I don't mind the stairs, it's this low handrail that's killing me."
  13. #22 done with just some fatigue yesterday, blood work in normal range. DKF .. thanks for the cup of water. Teeth.. I have not been to my dentist for a few years & didn't want any more x-rays but was getting a small toothache and went. I just finished getting 7 cavities filled and will get two teeth pulled after I'm done with Durva. I'm not saying it's related to Durva but thought I would post it. It could be chemoradiation related? Grahame ... Great news on your 1st infusion without any issues except fatigue. Having a happy oncologist is always good news. I never got muscle aches but we are all different. I have a port and put numbing cream on before they insert it, don't feel a thing. enjoy the day
  14. Hi Barb.. Good luck today, I go for #22 in a few hours, I found this-->> https://www.oncnursingnews.com/conference-coverage/ons-2018/monitoring-adverse-effects-of-immunotherapy May 29, 2018 - Schwartz suggested. She added that some toxicities have been reported that aren't yet included in guidelines, including lyphohistiocytic infiltrate around salivary glands that could be mistaken for thrush, or lichenoid reactions on the tongue. These can also be treated with steroids.
  15. Grahame you may know about this drug used to treat malaria "artemisinin" but is also used to treat cancer. Artemisinin is a chemical compound in a traditional Chinese herb called Artemisia annua, or sweet wormwood. Some research suggests that it may show promise in future cancer treatments. I got it for several months in an IV, something else to look at. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5872176/ DFK Hope your feeling better. Use a CBD oil tincture for fast results if it doesn’t bother your throat. A tincture is the fastest way to get relief, so it might be your best bet if you’re hoping to stop a cough. https://www.wikihow.com/Take-CBD-Oil-for-Cough
  16. Barb FABNO = Fellow of the American Board of Naturopathic Oncology http://www.fabno.org/ Why did Beethoven get rid of his chickens..? all they said was "Bach,Bach,Bach
  17. DKF .. when you look for a naturopathic physician look for one that is a naturopathic oncologist, that's the FABNO part and there are only about 115 in the country. Mine is cash when I see her but free to email question. The real expense are the supplements that you will need for your care plan. I take 15 different ones like curcumin, fish oil, vit d and more. Hope you feel better soon.. nice jokes.. Don’t interrupt someone working intently on a puzzle. Chances are, you’ll hear some crosswords.
  18. #21 done yesterday, blood work is fine but I do have a few small spots that itch. My CBD tincture is helping. I'll be done in 9 weeks and 6 days but who's counting. Silly Cat.. I did have an issue before you were here. I started this last April and was getting more fatigue with each infusion and by mid-july I needed a cane when I was outside. In late July they tested my TSH for the 1st time and it was about 30, and then it was 139 in as few weeks. I am now taking 150 mg of levothyroxine and that has me back to normal range. So make sure you get your TSH checked. I have many jokes about unemployed people, sadly none of them work.
  19. Barb.. sorry to hear of a new pain .. there is nothing to fear except fear itself #21 for me tomorrow ..
  20. Rower .. good information about naltrexone .. here is the link to the page about it. https://www.lowdosenaltrexone.org/ I have been taking it for 3 years. I also take 900 mgs of this a day Tru Niagen, ask you naturopath. Georgia .. sorry to about your husbands issues. When I got radiation to my chest they went from the front to the back and I was red like a sunburn on my chest and my back for awhile after treatment. The effects of radiation should improve with time, I put on some Aloe vera and whole plant CBD cream. If your going to look for a naturopathic doctor you should look for one that is naturopathic onclolgist fabno certified to work with cancer. This is a link to a few in your area http://www.fabno.org/membership.html. I believe that whole plant CBD tincture works very well for pain and should help your husband. I know 4 of my nurses and my onc use it for pain and to help sleep. Sillycat ...glad your back on the Durva track What did the hippy say while being evicted? Namaste
  21. DKF really great news that your NED and treatment is complete, sounds like you had a great team. I want to thank you for posting the good and the not so good of your journey.
  22. Roseann.. here are a few links on CT pot laws and where you can buy it. Your Naturopathic doc. may be able to help you. It's good for arthritis too. I take some tincture most days... really good for sleep. https://portal.ct.gov/DCP/Medical-Marijuana-Program/Qualification-Requirements https://portal.ct.gov/DCP/Medical-Marijuana-Program/Connecticut-Medical-Marijuana-Dispensary-Facilities
  23. Sillycat Roseann, sorry to hear you missed #11 .. I found this link that may be of interest to you. https://www.cbdhealthcentral.com/can-cbd-help-treat-uveitis/ ..you may find more info. if you search for cbd-uveitis. If you do try CBD try whole plant and not Hemp. What do you call the wife of a hippie? Mississippi
  24. Grahame.. the standard here is 26 infusions in 52 weeks with blood test before each infusion. Most get at least one CT every 3 months. They need to test to see if there is progression or something new and if so then no more infusions. They watch your BUN and Creatinine close and ALT, AST and TSH. Blood test results 15 minutes, ONC consult about 15-20 minutes then get a chair. It takes about 30 minutes to get the meds and then 1 hr. for the infustion. It may be quicker where you are but the place I go does up to 200 people a day with chemo etc. I bring my big Ipad with ear phones and a big lunch. A lot of us have a port..
  25. I got #20 yesterday and was fatigue for the rest of the day, recovered today. No other side effects. My glucose is up a bit and so was my ice cream intake. CT results yesterday... still NED
