Candi got a reaction from Tom Galli in Occasional Relief
    Hello Michelle, Joy and Paula,
Thank you so much for your support, encouragement and prayers. The transfer will not take place at this time as the other facility does not feel they would add anything beneficial to my treatment at this time so therefore we shall wait and find out what comes next.
The Dr.’s here appear to be pressing for a discion as to what my wishes are in the next couple of weeks should things not improve as they are not expected to. I am not sure of their goal but was told by a nurse it is their way of stating they have done all they can, shall we proceed with finalization? No! That is God’s descision so i need to now contact my insurance and find a fascility to accommodate me or a full time in home health, I’ll let you know what I find. Thank you for allowing me to vent and air my thoughts, I sincerely do not know what I would do without all of you...God Bless.

    Good Morning All,
I hope this finds everyone doing well. I have put in a request to be transferred to Oregon’s big nationally recognized institution Oregon Health and Science University. They are world renowned for many things including cancer. Please pray with me if it is Gods will all will go smoothly as these drs here are essentially just waiting for me to die and last night and this morning were not good reflecting on the numbers. I so appreciate all of your support, God Bless.

Just want to make a statement about the Advanced Directive.  They want you to have that in place, while you are healthy and well, so that they don't have to ask you about it when you are not healthy and well. From the time they discovered the nodule in my lung, at all of the tests, and every doctor's appointment that I went to, someone in the offices ask me about an Advanced Directive. I kept putting it off, and while they were prepping me for surgery they were asking me about it. I agree it is upsetting to think about it just before you are rolled into surgery. I should have done it way before all that. So that there aren't any misunderstandings, they want it done ahead of time. I am a month out from surgery and still not getting out and about, like I would like to, but as soon as I am functioning better and back to work, I am going to take care of this and have it in place for the future.
I went into surgery without one, thinking my son was next of kin and he knew what I wanted and didn't want.  But I have now decided that, that is a terrible burden to place on him and I need to have this taken care of. So I will do it.
Good luck,  Candi, some things are just simply in God hands.
My eldest son was in a car accident, I was told in the emergency room that it was very likely that he would not make it.  They were moving him to ICU and the doctor pulled my other son aside and told him to prepare for his expiring on the way up there.  For 30 days everything bad that could happen, happened, pneumonia, blood clots hitting his heart, kidneys shutting down, not producing healthy blood, on and on. The doctors always had factual news that was not good. Everyday it seemed there was something else that might kill him.  He was in hospital for 3 months, and when he left, the doctor said, " all I can say, is that we didn't do this, his survival was something way beyond what we did, or didn't do". It is 3 years later and he is asleep in the other room, and has been caring for me after my surgery.  So, I have seen God's miracles up close.

Oh yes this is the same for me, the scarring in my lungs suggest a chemical exposure but the drs are not sure of the source. Smoking itself does not cause cancer as I understand it, its the failure of exit of dead cells that have split as all of ours do. Cancer is an unfortunate failure of our cell system, however I agree that smoking among other exposures add to the risk. Flexibility is a great piece of advice! And I’m thankful for God’s forgiveness as all are in need.  Thank you so much for taking time to respond to my post. God Bless.

So after the nurse brought the confusion of information to light, 2 of the drs have been back in apologizing for any confusion and basically saying to never give up but to be realistic and get my end of life care finalized, my condition (not cancer but scarring) has worsened.

    Good Evening Everyone,
Since I utilized the platform here to express my displeasures I thought it only appropriate to come back and share some good news I just received.
The information I gave earlier in my post was after speaking with the ER dr who admitted me last night. (I’m learning there is a level of importance to knowing the background of a cancer patient to adequately assess). Within the last hour the hospital pulmonologist came in after going over my records extensively and she feels nothing supports the advancement of the pneumonitis or cancer either one. She says all signs point to a slight upper respiratory infection, causing my already delicate state to be overturned. Antibiotics and steroids should calm everything back down she tells me. Hey, she even discussed the likelihood of my returning to work eventually! I’m a relieved and happy girl tonight at this moment. Thank you everyone for your attention and support and thank you Lord for the answer to prayer.

    Hi Paula,
That is part of the frustration in all of this, laying down or sitting still I feel great! No pain, no swelling, no anything, even all of my vitals are right where they want them to be, they tell me I’m healthy outside of the pneumonitis and oxygen crashes. I was admitted last night so now waiting to see a dr if one is available. I still believe in miracles.   Thank you for checking in Paula, I hope you’re doing well also, God Bless.

    Hi Michelle,
well I’m actually laying in the ER right now waiting to be sent to a room. My breathing got bad enough upon standing, I knew I needed looked at. They suspect a negative progression of the pneumonitis, but I am told I will know more tomorrow. Thank you so much for asking Michelle, God Bless

I’m trying to remain positive but the last 3 days have been difficult. I’m on oxygen 24/7 and steroids due to the pneumonitis. 2 months ago it seemed to improve things, however, now I am struggling to breathe comfortably, my hands and feet now tingle and I am coughing quite a bit. I’ve contacted my oncologist but I don’t believe much more can be done. I just pray change still comes with the steroid and chemo therapy.

    Hi Lauren,
my goodness what a difference a little time can make! In one big nutshell I had an MRI of my brain and a CT scan of my chest, abdomen, and pelvis and there are no new signs of cancer and what is seen has shrunk! I now have to see a pulmonologist and begin my chemo again next week. My oncologist was very pleased with the outcome of the tests and I have been thanking God since my appointment yesterday!!! Thank you for checking on me Lauren.

    Paula,
If the adenocarcinoma finding resulted from a biopsy, determined by a pathologist, I’d be confused also. Here is what I’d do. Get the actual biopsy report and read it. Get the path report from the surgical resection and read it. If they don’t read the same subtype, have the ordering doctor ask both the biopsy and surgery sample be re-examined by a different pathologist.
Tissue samples are normally kept quite a while so a re-exam should be possible.
    Stay the course.
    Tom
