  1. Thanks Michelle. You are a fountain of knowledge. I’ve been wrestling with this in my mind for 2 months and I’m pretty pissed. There’s also an approval company that works for the insurance company to get precertification. What a dang racket they have.
  2. Hey Michelle. The PET scan of course. Said not medically necessary because I’m not in treatment but without it can’t tell if main tumor is dead. Docs office did a peer to peer and was still denied. I guess they would rather wait until I get to stage 4 then pay hundreds of thousands for the next round of treatment. How are you doing? Still in the targeted therapy?
  3. Hey guys. Took a break from all things cancer since my last CT in July. Between Covid, working at home the last 6 months and just cancer life it’s mentally exhausting. Anyway I hope all are doing well and LexieCat I’m sorry you’re back in treatment. Can someone tell me how you Appeal a test denial? What is included and can the social worker/cancer liaison help with it? The insurance company Approval place asked me if I had every written note and test result to send in with the appeal? Was this a scare tactic? Almost 2 years of medical records! That seems ridiculous.
  4. Roseann-Yay you’re almost there!! I sort of have this problem of reading my scan reports. Usually I get them before I see the doc, not this time so I went in blind and uninformed and unprepared . I should stop reading them because More than once what I googled really wasn’t the complete picture. I’m sure everyone is just as tired as I dealing with this. I wish I could just turn off the lc thoughts for a year!!! Hope all is well for everyone here. Have a good week!
  5. Michelle-sound like you are doing well. Paperwork stinks on every level and is ridiculous. Don’t even get me started about insurance. Speaking of trips, I was supposed to go to NJ next month for Music Fest in PA -of course that’s cancelled. Still might go somewhere within driving distance but gotta wait and see.
  6. Hi Michelle! Hope you’re doing well. I just got off the phone with the radiation oncologist. He said it could very well be radiation damage as that is the rib area it was aimed through. Says it reads like it’s old stuff and he looked at the pics and doesn’t see any concerns as far as tumor. I have a call into the onc just to clarify our conversation Thursday when I thought she was talking about the original broken rib. It didn’t ruin my weekend, it just upset me that I didn’t understand what the oncologist was referring to. Also that if the insurance would have approved a PET I probably would have had a more detailed report. Just waiting for the onc to call back. how are you feeling? Doing?
  7. My short lived victory-just received the printed report from the CT last week. Doc was asking me about my rib issue that showed healing on previous report and mentioned again on this one. Have come to the conclusion that I probably broke it coughing when I had pleurisy. That was the 2nd rib. Now it states I have developed sclerosis of the third rib and could represent sequela prior trauma and attention on follow up exam is recommended. So of course I look up all this and find it could be a metastasis? I can’t wait until November and emailed the radiation oncologist to look at it. Of course I will call the oncologist tomorrow but she really wasn’t too concerned. anybody ever see this wording on a report?
  8. Grahame-yay! I’m sure you will be smiling from ear to ear for your daughter’s wedding! Congratulations and keep fighting Lindsay-good luck on the scan. Let us know!
  9. Well another CT in the bag. Doc said go live your life and I’ll see you in November.
  10. Hi Tomm. I think I’m just nervous about not knowing for sure if there’s any other problems anywhere else since the last PET a year ago.
  11. Roseann-you are almost there. I’m still waiting for phone calls from the docs office-I blew up their phone before because they also dropped the ball on this one-didn’t communicate so the peer to peer didn’t really happen like I was told They cancelled my PET for tomorrow and changed to a CT next week. Hopefully whoever screwed up can fix it and get the PET rescheduled. I have spoken to the insurance company twice, the onc office 3 times, had a conference call with the insurance and the stupid company that precertifies for them, and my insurance company caseworker 4 times who is also leaving msgs to everyone. Hopefully this squeaky wheel will get some grease.
  12. To all who have completed Durva-did you have a PET scan after? Supposed to get one tomorrow and of course the insurance company is denying it saying I was already diagnosed with LC. I read them the riot act on the phone and now docs office is getting involved. Other than a PET, I don’t see how they can see if the treatment worked, if there is no metastasis since the last PET a year ago, if there is scar tissue and it is dead. I’m so sick of people who are not doctors telling me what I need or don’t need and I told them that.
  13. Hello all. Been a busy bee since my last infusion on May 7th. 3 weeks after I felt like my old self and I feel better a little more every week. Funny thing is I would get sob doing too much and I just realised this too is getting better. Decided to tear down a wall which was a 4 day job. It’s been 3 weeks, it has grown into new floors, paint, doors-what has possessed me? I’m glad you are doing well and I’m hoping we all keep getting good results. barb
  14. Prolly-I gained 30 lbs. every one I ever spoke to has gained weight on Durva. The nutritionist at the oncs office confirmed it. It’s only been a month and I refuse to get on a scale so far.
  15. Hi Lisa. I’ll get somewhere soon. Just have to figure it out
  16. Thanks Opal. I’m hoping I can get a hotel on the GA beach sometimes soon. I’ll bring my masks and clean the room if I have to.
  17. Well it’s finally here. I’m so excited for #26 tomorrow. I’m hoping that in a few weeks/months I will feel almost normal with no chemical induced side effects? Ready for a much needed break. I only wish I could take a vacation.
  18. Hey Ron. Good news! Stay positive!
  19. Thanks Opal. Your thoughts make me think about the future a little more positively today. After the last 18 months of treatments I need a long vacation, preferably at a beach 🏖
  20. Hello all. 25 down, 1 to go. Blood work good. No strange side effects. I’m starting to get very anxious about what happens after. Just scans until it decides to rear it’s ugly head? I’m not sure what to expect. Anybody have any thoughts?
  21. Hey all. Tomm, I did get #24 on Thursday. All is good. I was so excited to get out of the house🤪
  22. Tomm. 25 out of 26 is great. Keep checking in with your jokes.
  23. #23 is in the bag. Blood work good. CT says grossly unchanged. Said something about a 3mm nodule in lower right but I think it may have been on a previous scan months ago. I’m not worried because we all know Imfinzi can cause weird stuff. Oncologist’s office was strange-very few patients and very spread out. Hope all are well during this weirdness. Not only do we have to stay home, the pollen count is so high the cars are green don’t wanna go outside. Enjoy the weekend all.
