  1. LCA is looking for advocates in North Dakota, Nebraska and Wyoming. They need advocates in those states who are willing to work towards getting their state government to sign the "Lung Cancer Awareness Month" proclamation. They have the forms and will give you all the hekp they can to get this achieved. If interested contact: lungcanceralliance.org I believe the info is on the 1st page. Thanks, iowagirl (PamM)
  2. Way to go Bunny!!! ACS sometimes seems to forget that lung cancer kills more people and getts less funding and therefore less respect for the people with Lung Cancer. You can get lots of help from these sites: lungcanceralliance.org womenagainstlungcancer.org lungevity.org Pam
  3. I'm working with the Governor's staff. He will be signing a proclamation in Oct. making November "Lung Cancer Awareness Month" in Iowa. You can contact lungcanceralliance.org if you are interested in getting a proclamation signed in your state. They have a gal who has the forms that can be e-mailed to you and then edited with your state info. They are trying to get as many state proclamations as they can before Nov. 1st. or even after if there is not enough time. Take Care, God Bless and Hugs to all iowagirl
  4. Last yr on our Relay for Life day ACS told us they were pulling the local office. Closest office is now 100 miles. Local hospital has offered them free rent but they still refuse to re-establish the office. I have collected some funds for them but since Dec. 04 everything is going to lung cancer organizations for research. Some counties in our area no longer have Relays and are having Cancer Survivors'Day instead. My oldest daughter and I attended the WALC meeting in Orlando last week. The panel (WALC, LCA, Lungevity, CancerCare & Joanies' Cause) have decided to work together to bring Lung Cancer to the attention of the public. They want to work with grassroots organizations to spread awareness and education through out the world. Anyone interested in helping our cause should contact one of these organizations. Let our voices be heard, we did not ask for this disease. We are not invisible! And personally, I don't look good in pink.
  5. Thanks for the welcome, yes NED & I are great friends. My regular Dr. accidently found the lung tumor (8x8cm)upper left lobe 8/24/03 during a chest Xray. Started 3 rounds Carboplatin/Taxol 10/23/03. Left Thoracotomy 1/14/04 with wedge excision for 0.3cm tumor lower left lobe. Started 33 rads in conjunction with 3 rounds carboplain/taxol on March 7th. Have been cancer free since the surgery on 1/14/04. No longer work but volunteer on chemo days at Oncology Clinic. Attended WALC in Orlando on 5/13/05 and wroking with LCA to spread the word about lung cancer killing more people than Breast, Colon and Prostate put together. Hoping to raise awareness and raise funds for research.
