  1. When I read this I was really jumping up & down with joy. Hope this is real. Too late for me, but for my entire family and the entire world this would be amazing. Joan
  2. Unfortunately, I don't know much about SCLC, as I have NSCLC, but I am a patient at Sloan Kettering and if there is any way I can be of help, please feel free to pm me. Joan
  3. Thanks John. I actually did discuss clinical trials with my doc. He said they open and close so fast that we have to see what's open when I go in next week and I guess make a quick decision. Oh boy!! I will check out that site though. You never know whats available in other places.

    My Guy

Kasey, I'm just sitting here with the BIGGEST SMILE on my face. I'm soooooooooo happy for you. Joan
  5. I'll be thinking of you all weekend and really hope Monday everything turns out NED. I totally agree with you about LCSC. When I started this journey, I knew absolutely nothing about LC. So much info from people that have "been there, done that" and so much compassion. Feel well. Joan
  6. My doctor had mentioned a few different chemo's, but I find it really interesting that sometimes they go back to the original and sometimes not, depending on I have no idea. I did do well on the first round, so I don't know why he wouldn't do that again. Well, I'll see what he suggests next Friday. Thanks so much for this valuable imput. Joan
  7. WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO JUST thrilled for you both. Joan
  8. I've been through my first line chemo (Taxol & Carboplatin) and finished since November, 05. I've also been taking Avastin since the beginning. As of my last MRI they saw growth on a large met on my sacrum and slight growth on a met on my spine. I'm almost finished radiation to both spots. Is the usual protocol to be put on chemo again. That's what my docs suggesting and I do trust him, but I just want to have all my questions ready for him next Friday. They also have stopped the Avastin because of the new growths. Besides this and some "not having anything to do with cancer stuff" I've had a fabulous 14 months. Need to have a lot more than that though. What to do? Thanks much, Joan
  9. Jay, As far as your question re natural remedies, please check with your medical oncologist, because when you are going through chemo, they may not want you on any supplements, even vitamins. I would post under Alternative & Complimentary Therapies as we have some people that are very well versed in this area. Where are you ALISA???? and others. Take care, Joan
  10. After a recent bout of food poisoning (that's what they think it was), I was put on Ativan & Reglan 4 x a day. Working wonders. I feel almost normal!!! Call your doc and hope he gets you on something that works. Joan

    New one!

Oh boy Darrell, I am so upset to hear about this bump. But, I know those Chicago guys must have something else to give to someone like you who is such a fighter. I would certainly check out cyberknife also. You have my prayers and wishes. Joan
  12. Cindy, So exciting!! You've got to find a way for us to watch. Go get em. Joan
  13. Hi Jay, I'm really sorry to hear about your mom's diagnosis. There is plenty of hope though. I too was dx. with stage IV in May, 2005. I started with chemo treatment and am now first having radiation. Every doctor is different as is every patient. I would go for a second opinion just to put my mind at ease to make sure I'm doing everything I possibly could be doing. If you are not at a large LC facility like LC treatment centers of america, I think it is very important you do that, because they are usually on the cutting edge of what is available. I go to Sloan Kettering in NYC and was put on a drug called Avastin from day one, which was not approved for lung, but has become one of the main staples for lung cancer. Any, I wish you all the luck and we're all here for you with any and all questions. Joan
  14. Dear Carleen, There are no words. I'm just so sorry. Joan
  15. Oh Gin, What wonderful news. Keep up the good work. Joan

    Too much pain

Carleen, I just saw your recent post and am so upset. As others have said, you MUST, IMMEDIATELY, go stay with either a good friend or family member. You also need to speak with someone that deals in losses of this magnitude. I can only imagine how you're feeling, and unfortunately, any words I may have, I know are only words right now. You need to get through this terrible time with one-on-one help. There is probably medication that may help relieve some of the pain you are experiencing. You know we all love you here, but just for now, you need more. Please take care, Joan
