  1. Hi Mary Ann I was diagnosed with 1b in 2021 had upper right lobe removed no other treatment, I have had 6 monthly scans since then the last one will be next week if all is still well after that I will go to annual scans for the next few years. I have made a full recovery I walk my dog daily and really live life to the fullest, I do take care to avoid Covid and other respiratory virus's by still wearing a mask in enclosed public spaces so far, I haven't had any of them hopefully that will continue. Take care may all be well. Blessings Marilyn from Australia
  2. Sending you best wishes Bridget, and hope your wife makes a full recovery so you can continue to have some good times together, Blessing from Oz Marilyn
  3. Sorry to hear that you are living with chronic pain it can get you down that's for sure, I just wanted to wish you well and I hope a solution is found to make your life a little easier, Sending love and good wishes from Oz Marilyn
  4. Hi Aussie here, I see you live in Victoria so you have one of the best specialist cancer centres in AUS, I can understand your anxiety it's very difficult to wait, however I am sure you will be referred to a specialist centre quite quickly, I live in a regional area in NSW and have to travel to Canberra to see my oncologist, is the nodule 1,6mm or Ctm, because that will make a difference as to how quickly they make a referral, he has had a CT scan so most probably a PET will be next, it's hard to remain calm but we have excellent treatment options here. Perhaps you can contact your GP or whoever ordered the heart scan to ask about the specialist appointment, wishing you all the best, may all be well. Marilyn
  5. Hi Auk I don't comment here often cuz I am an Aussie but I found this forum invaluable when I was first diagnosed like you it was found during a surveillance scan, mine was for a previous uterine cancer now NED, anyway my lung nodule was a similar size to yours was staged at 1b, no lymph involvement and no further treatment required, that surgery was June 2021 so far 2 scans down and all is well, I will be under surveillance for the next 3.5 years. The tips on recovery after surgery were invaluable and helped enormously as did the very kind people here on this forum, my recovery took about 3 months i had upper right lobectomy, I am now back to walking my dog 2-3 kms every day and I will be 76 in June. Wishing you a smooth surgery and a full recovery take care and good luck Marilyn
  6. Thanks my surgeon referred to my tumor as unremarkable common in smokers and non smokers, so probably no markers of note, I am however on 6 monthly scans for the next few years so an recurrence should be found early, fingers crossed 2 down so far so good, at this stage I feel very lucky that it was picked up early and wasn't a connected to my previous uterine cancer also 1b from 5 years ago I have just been cleared with that so now they are focused on the lung cancer, yep I feel very lucky indeed and I am grateful for every beautiful day. Blessings all
  7. I had a lobectomy in June 2021 also 1B and also no further treatment as no lymph involvement I have just had my second clear scan BTW I am in Australia, I wasn't given any extra information though the tumor was smaller than yours I hope this helps, good luck on your journey and stay well ❤️
  8. I had upper right lobe removed in June 2021 it took me about 6 months to recover, my tumor was 1B not invasive no further treatment, I am 75 and back to being reasonably fit again take it slowly and be patient it's a big surgery but you will recover, good luck and best wishes.
  9. Oh thanks Tom I think she would like to do something similar here in Oz through the Australian Lung foundation. I have found this forum extremely helpful and I am as ready as I can be for my surgery in June, a Mini Thoracotomy a smaller incision and less rib separation apparently my fingers are crossed, it's a method used to replace heart valves and since this beastie is near my pulmonary artery I guess that's near to my heart anyway feeling positive and taking things one step at a time. I have hired the recliner bought myself a wedge etc and she was very impressed that I had found all this info, perhaps the Aussie Lung Foundation could provide a link here for lung cancer patients I will mention it next time I speak to her in a month or so after my surgery. Blessings
  10. Thanks for sharing your wisdom born of experience I am so grateful I found this forum. I spoke to a Lung Cancer nurse yesterday from the Australian Lung foundation, and she asked where I had found my information I told her it from from this forum and told her it was a shame that we had nothing like this in Oz, her name is Nicole and she said she was going to look the forum up and join if she could so she can see how it works and perhaps replicate it here, I really hope she can do that.
