  1. Dear friends,

I know I have not posted in more than three years, and I just thought I'd check in again and share some good news. My dad is still stable as of yesterday's CT scan. We have been in this cancer journey for almost six years.

I'm also very glad to see many friends from back in the day still active and posting. I pray everyone is healthy and doing well.

    Love,

    Frances

  2. Hi, I'm Frances, and I live in Manila, Philippines.

I've been here since 2005, I haven't been visiting much but I do drop by once in a while. The wonderful people I've met here at the boards has helped me cope in my dad's LC journey.

I post some photos over at frances.effronte.org

    Nice to meet everyone!

  3. Mike, I'm so very glad to hear from you! About two weeks ago I suddenly remembered you and proceeded to search for updates. I found out you haven't written in months, so that got me a bit worried. I'm so glad you decided to drop in. Enjoy the coming holidays :)

    Rochelle,

I haven't been logging in to the site, I am very much surprised to hear this. Please accept my sincerest condolences. I wish you and your family better days ahead. Take care.

  4. Hi everyone!

I haven’t visited in a while. I haven’t posted since December, I realised. Two evaluative scans have passed (March and June) and I’m happy to report that dad is stable. The tumors never shrank any, but I’m glad that they never grew. Hope that the remaining masses are just dead cells!

Things have been going well for my dad I guess. He used to be in bed all day, but he’s been up and about lately. He’s having our dining area and kitchen reconstructed so he’s been pretty busy supervising the work. I'm glad for this semblance of a normal life. He stopped working but he's keeping himself busy. That's very good. :)

We had a prostate cancer scare a month ago, though. He was having problems with urination and turns out, he has an enlarged prostate. We were all worried like crazy as we definitely can’t have a second primary! Thankfully his PSA’s turned out normal.. Thank God. Currently still treating and observing the UTI.

I’m off to browse the forums some more, and see how everyone’s doing! I wish you guys well.

    Yours,

    Frances

  5. Hello again friends,

My dad had his evaluative scan on Monday (Dec. 4), after 2 months of no treatment. And the results.... STABLE! So very glad, relieved and grateful to hear this. We can celebrate Christmas with a least some peace of mind. :)

He was supposed to start a new oral chemo regimen, but he does not qualify for it now, because the trial is for patients with tumor progression. Onc said they will scan again in March 2007. Somehow I don't find it okay that the doctor will let 3 months pass without any treatment. Can anyone share their similar experience?

We still have bad news, though. His blood sugar levels went up, and is now considered diabetic. So this means new meds and blood sugar will be regularly monitored.

With this I end my update. Wishing everyone a lovely, memorable December. Much love.

    Sincerely

    Frances
