Kris, grief has no map as it is different for everyone. The memories of when your dad was sick are so painful and heartbreaking. It has been a year and four months since my dad died, and i still have those painful memories. However in the last few months I have started to have happier memories other than his sickness. Please know you are not alone. Mirrell

Hi Pam, there is no map for grieving. for some people it doesn't take that long, and for others it takes a great deal of time. for me it is taking a long time as well. when someone is that special to you, the grief you feel is heartfelt and in many ways you deserve it to yourself to grieve over him for as long as it takes. it is such an individual process. please ignore these people, please take your time, and please be good to yourself. thinking of you. my dad had loculated pleural effusion. the doctor can use streptokinase to help melt the pockets and get the fluid out. ask about this. mirrell

Ann, our hearts are going to break over and over again due to this tragedy that has happened in our lives. Each time it breaks, your heart will become bigger, that's what I tell myself anyways. Dr.Bernie Siegal believes that most cancers or serious illnesses are caused by some kind of trauma that compromises the immune system. Perhaps for some, quitting smoking causes trauma or stress, which compromises the immune system, and hence activates the cancer. Just a thought, if you believe what Dr.Siegal believes about traumatic experiences and the start of life threatening diseases.

the positive news is that they have found what might be a potential problem. also, that you have a wonderful support group. finally, knowledge is power. we are all thinking of you and sending positive energy your way. mirrell

November 8 was the one year anniversary of my fathers passing. It has been a long and hard couple of years. My dads brothers and sisters all went to my moms house, they visitted the bench we had erected for my dad. Then in true native north american indian spirit, they had a feast of buffalo and venison. Some of my dads close friends came too. I could only talk on the phone with them, because I am in Korea. They told stories about him, shared special memories. My mom drank too much wine I think. I miss him so much, and it still seems like yesterday. I love you dad. You will never be forgotten and I think about you everyday, and I am trying so hard to make you proud of me. I hope he visits me in my dreams tonight. Mirrell

there is someone on this board with good news about a collapsed lung, marlon. her mother had a collapsed lung, then after several attempts to get the doctors to be more aggressive, she went to the block cancer center, where her mother not only shows no evi9dence of disease, but her lung was re-expanded. her email is on her. email her. she is a wealth of advice. good luck to you. mirrell
