  1. Welcome to the site Dee. Glad to hear your scans are good. I was diagnosed with small cell in Nov 2021. I have since been up and down with my scans but all is stable at the moment. Keep us updated. Pam
  2. Hi Angelina. I also am a SCLC patient and did basically the same treatment as you except the preventive brain radiation. I did not develop neuropathy so really have no advice. My mother had it in her hands and feet and was on lyrica which helped a little. I too have insomnia and have had a sleep study which showed mild sleep apnea. I am going to get a cpap machine and will see if that helps. I will pray for good results with your pet scan. Sorry I’m not much help. You have come to the right place thou. There are awesome people on this forum and I’m sure someone will be able to give you advice. Keep us informed. Pam

    So quiet

I was thinking the same thing Tom. Hope everyone is doing good. Enjoy your holidays.
  4. Glad to hear that the lesion is shrinking and hope it will more with the next MRI. I had gamma knife last week for a 5mm lesion on my right temporal lobe, also another small one detected with MRI the morning of my procedure. I will have follow up MRI in two months.
  5. That is great news Ken….so happy for you!
  6. Hope that the Sbrt will shrink and eliminate that lesion. You and your brother are in my prayers.
  7. Happy Birthday Bridget! That was a rough first day for you and your wife…glad to hear that things are better. Thank goodness for friends to help us thru tough times. Prayers for a speedy recovery.
  8. I was diagnosed with LS SCLC in Nov of 2021. I had a nodule in right upper lobe and hilar lymph node involvement. I had 4 rounds of chemotherapy with carboplatin and etoposide and 30 daily radiation treatments. Maybe you can speak to your oncologist about switching to carboplatin in place of the cistoplatin as my side effects were just tiredness and one bout of constipation. It is really important to stay hydrated. Radiation side effect was some heartburn and difficulty swallowing which went away shortly after treatment. I was not offered any immunotherapy so can’t give you any advice.
  9. Oh boy Ken….I guess you have been put thru the wringer with this. I hope they figure out what is going on with all this fluid. Praying for you. Pam
  10. That is such great news Karen and glad you had a wonderful time in Italy! I hope to make it there someday. Pam
  11. Sorry to hear that it is confirmed cancer for your wife Bridget. I pray that her mastectomy will go well. You are a good friend to bring the hamburger helper to your co worker. I guess sometimes you just get that craving for a certain thing. Glad that your kitty is fine now. They certainly are a great comfort to us. Pam
  12. So sorry for all this troubling news Bridget. Sending positive thoughts and prayers.
  13. I’m sorry to hear of the brain met. The one I had was eradicated by gamma knife radiosurgery. Maybe that will be an option for your brother? Let us know.
  14. Hi ANC… I agree with what Tom said. I was diagnosed initially with limited stage Sclc which was treated with chemo and radiation. It then metastasized to my brain which was treated with gamma knife radiosurgery which then classified me as extended stage. I was just treated with SBRT to my right adrenal gland for metastasis there. I am being treated at Roswell Park Cancer Institute as it is close to me( about 50 mins away). With you being in Syracuse, you could go NYC way or Roswell, or you could go out of state if you feel a different hospital would be better. I wish your father and you the best as you navigate your options. Pam
  15. Hi Kamoto…so glad there was not a major problem with TSA. When my mother had her port put in her Dr gave her a script or paper that she carried with her whenever she traveled. That may be something you can ask about for the next time you travel. Happy you got to enjoy some relaxation and sunshine! Pam
  16. Wishing you a good scan result on the 31st!
  17. I’m so sorry to hear this marycecilia…my thoughts and prayers are with you.

    Lost a mentor

Losing anyone so close and always there for you is a very hard thing. You just put one foot in front of the other and plod thru your days until the grief starts to ease. I was devastated when my mother passed as she was my rock. My friends, coworkers and family helped me to cope. The first year was the hardest but things are better. I still miss her every day but life does go on, just in a different way. Hang in there. Sorry for your loss.
  19. Good bro, So sorry to hear that your brother passed. I hear you with it being the hardest thing you ever had to do. I was there when my mother passed. Although it was hard on you, rest assured that he was glad you were there with him til the end. Sending thoughts and prayers to you and your family. Pam
  20. My stools also smell awful since chemo and radiation. I don’t have nausea or vomiting just the smell.
  21. I’m heartbroken to hear this news about your brother Good Bro. I hope that the infliximab will help his breathing. Sending prayers and positive thoughts to you both. Pam
  22. Hello Kristin, welcome and sorry you need to be here. I’m sure the next step will be the biopsy ,then staging and treatment plan. The initial shock of it all is the hardest but once the treatment plan is in place you feel a little more in control. Keep us updated. Pam
