    Baby names

Just found out we're having a boy. Having some difficulty with chosing a name, so I would appreciate some input from all of you... I'm looking for something else besides the common ones like Matthew, John, James, Andrew. I'll be reading your suggestions.

    Guilt...yet grieving

Hi Jen, It was 2 years after PCI. They did the PCI because he was in complete remission. People say I tend to get paranoid about symptoms, but I'm glad your dad is having this thing checked out on the 20th. Keep us posted. I'll be praying for you...
  4. Learn how to swim. Lilyjohn, I'm going to cruise Alaska on the 25th! I'll be thinking about ya!
  5. My aunt thinks she's a witch-doctor, so she told my dad not to eat any meat whatsoever, because meat feeds the cancer. The "don't do surgery because it spreads" is very old and overused. It's the one I hate the most!

    Guilt...yet grieving

Jen, Please DO NOT assume this is because of PCI. Your dad should have a repeat brain scan, just to make sure all is in order. When my dad developed leptomeningeal mets, he started by having short term memory loss and getting angry at everyone. Don't panic - it could be nothing. However, I would go ahead and check it out ASAP. I'll be keeping you and your family in my prayers...
  7. I'm truly sorry to hear about your Dad. The CPK (or CK) enzyme can be elevated if he's having a heart attack, however Troponin is more specific. It can also happen if he fell and hurt himself (muscle damage), if he workes out too vigorously, if he has kidney disease. He should be seen by a cardiologist. I really hope your Dad will be feeling better in no time.
  8. Good Luck Andrea and family, may Randi have a good and painless delivery. You guys are going to be the happiest!
  9. Find a way for a "facial-gone-wrong" breakout to go away before my niece's Sat. wedding, where I'll be the matron-of-honor!
  10. She should be a baby model, you know, for the diapers and the formulas and such. She is incredibly beautiful! You are blessed.
  11. I am so sorry, Dana. My prayers go out to you and your family at this difficult time. She'll be watching you all from heaven. She was so proud at your wedding! Be strong for your dad. Michelle
  12. Thanks for keeping us posted. I hope Joanie is comfortable, without pain and that she knows how much we love her and miss her around here.
  13. My Dad had spinal and brain mets, and the docs wanted to try Topotecan, however they did radiation first, which lowered his platelet count to the point he had to wait 6 weeks for it to return to normal. By then, he was too sick to tolerate Topotecan (side effects are harsh). The oncologist told me that with mets or SCLC recurrence, Topotecan would only prolong life by 26 weeks or less.
  14. One of my friends' Dad was on Etoposide pills at home after finishing the IV chemo, and he stayed cancer free for 6 years. I don't really know why they didn't recommend this to my father a few years back. I would definitely ask the oncologist.
