  2. Hi Judy, Thank you for your suggestion! When my mom got a negative result in her initial mutation test (back in May), my mother's oncologist says the mutation test is a one-time thing and it won't change in the repeated test. Is this true? Do you recommend I go to another oncologist and request a mutation test for the second time would help? Thank you in advance for your reply!
  3. Hello everyone, A little background first, my mother is 49 and was diagnosed with NSCLC Stage IV back in March. By that time, cancer already spread to her brain, and the neurosurgeon did surgery to take the tumor out of her brain. She does not have any mutation for the targeted therapy. Now, She just finished her third set of Chemo (Keytradand+Carboplatin+Alimtathe) and the first section of her lung radiation. However, my mother claims she has shoulder pain, I take her to the ER. Now they found a new tumor on the left rib and sinusitis. The doctor in the hospital tell me to go with hospice because he believed there is no other medication she can take. Another thing is, that she has been doing blood transfusions because her platelets counts are low. I think this is also the reason why the doctor recommends a hopice? Does anyone here have had the same situation before? Did you go with the path of hospice or if you first tried to go to another hospital to see if there is any other option? Any recommendation would be appreciated! Thank you in advance! Update 10/9/2022 My mother passed away on 10/7, she was passed in the hospice house and seems passed very comfortable. I was making plans to take her to the clinic trial but she did not make it before she passed. Thank you everyone for support and reccomendation.
  4. Hi everyone, My mother was diagnosed with lung cancer stage IV with metastasis to her brain and ribs. Effusion around the heart and she is going to have a procedure to drain it tomorrow. My mom just moved to the US last November, and now she's in the hospital. I'm so lost now, because I'm still in college, with a part-time job that only pays $500 a month. My mother only worked for 5 months so we doesn't have much saving left. She doesn't speak English and does not drive, so I need to take her to the hospital, or the doctor's office. I have no other relatives in the world, just my mom. So does my mom, I'm the only relative she has. Now her condition getting worst, coughing up blood, chest pain, anxiety etc...I really want to be around her till the end of her journey. Any advice?
  5. Hi everyone, My mother is a 50-years old diagnosed with stage 4 non small cell lung cancer back in March 16th, 2022. It metastasis to the brain already when it was diagnosed, she had procedure to remove the brain tumor. Now the doctor find that the cancer metastasis to the rib as well, and there is large amount of fluid around the heart. She now is going to do a procedure to drain the effusion around her heart. She got no luck on the targeted drug and have not started with chemo and radiation treatment yet to the lung. My mother talked to me that she wants to give up, but the doctor told me that he think she can be benefit from the chemo and she should be able to tolerate it. Now I next to her and she's crying, I don't know what should I do. Should I just let her give up the treatment and let her be happy for the rest of the time, or should I convince her to do the treatment to see if there is a possiblity to extend her life? She is very affraid that the treatment will make her worst and makes she die in pain...
