  1. My mom has completed her first intravenous chemo last Monday. Her symptoms aren’t too bad: no vomiting so far, body aches went away and her cough isn’t so bad. My concern now is I’m guessing my moms taste might of changed. It’s so hard for her to eat anything and been waiting so much food just to have her taste test foods she likes. Also, my other concern is she does not want to continue her chemo. She brought up this topic a couple of times. Any one have any recommendations for foods she can try or words of encouragement I can share with her?
  2. I am my mom’s caregiver and support for her stage 4 lung cancer. She’s been diagnosed with it back in 2017 and has gone through 2 types of oral chemo, radiation, currently with keytruda and in a few weeks more chemo. I’m nervous about the new chemo treatment because I don’t know what to expect. My biggest concern is that we will relive the symptoms my mom has undergone with her first oral treatment that had her end up in the hospital for 4 days. Luckily, this round she has been prescribed with anti nausea meds, steroids and folic acid to help with the side effects from the new chemo treatment. I am also worried because her cancer has gotten worse. Because of the situation I’ve personally hit a numbness stage: I feel bleh, like nothing is interesting anymore, almost like a depression. I may have to return back to my therapist again. But I also wanted some suggestions as caretakers what works for you to get out of the funk. Thank you!
  3. Thank you! She hasn’t had any new biopsies. Her dr did give her medications to manage symptoms before and after chemo. I’m mostly worried she may get sick like she did with the first oral chemo before tegrisso.
  4. Hi everyone, Starting in a couple of weeks, my mom will go through chemo again. A little background: she was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in 2017. Was taking tagrisso for a couple of years, had a few weeks of radiation and just recently her lung cancer has gotten worse. She’s currently taking keytruda but it doesn’t seem to help. She will be taking Carboplation in addition to keytruda. I’m mostly just worried about the side effects: nausea, change in taste and hair loss. Any suggestions or tips so we can be ready for this new journey? Also she is prescribed nausea meds as well.
  5. Hello everyone! My mom is on year 5 of surviving her stage 4 lung cancer. Unfortunately after oral chemo, radiation and immuno therapy her cancer is getting worse and causing a cough. She does have prescribed medicine for the cough but does anyone have any working home remedies we can include to help her manager her cough? Please let me know. Thank you!
  6. Back in 2017 my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. The dr at that time gave her a year to live. So glad he was wrong. They had her go on oral chemo which made her so sick she had to stay in the hospital for 4 days. Then she tried another type of oral chemo which had better side effects. She’s been off chemo for a few years and has also went through radiation. She was doing well until this last dr visit in June they found a mutation in her cancer. They recommend a lighter chemo treatment then immuno therapy. Already her insurance denied this treatment as it is a lighter version of the treatment. I hope the insurance works out and I hope the treatment is ok on her. Anyone else gone through something similar or had to support someone in a similar situation? Let me know, I just need to know things worked out. Thank you!
  7. Thank you so much for your support! Today is the big result day so I hope we have some options! Fingers crossed! 🤞🤞🤞
  8. Hello Justin, I am happy to hear your cancer has shrunk. Best of luck to you! Back in 2018 she got a biopsy, she had oral chemo (drs didn’t want to do intravenous chemo) and fished that in 2021 and did a few rounds of radiation. So we wait for the next steps of her last test.
  9. Hello everyone! I joined this forum as my mom has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Originally the first dr said she only had about a year to live. She has gone through oral chemo treatment as well with radiation. Just today she was informed her lung cancer has gotten worse due to it getting larger. She just did a blood test for the DNA mutation analysis. Now we wait 2 weeks for the next steps. I am trying this forum out as the more popular social media doesn’t provide me with the support I need so I can be strong for my mom. I am happy to get any advise to help me or my mom cope with the next phase or if you have questions about her journey I am happy to answer. looking forward to meeting you! Thank you, Jennifer
