    RLL Rats lobectomy

Lily I've noticed I've been doing the burping as well...I thought it was a bit strange. Does the Ativan help? I'm just at a loss because otherwise I feel fine albeit a little tired but the excessive hunger for air is really starting to wear me down. Have appts with both oncologist and regular dr tomorrow and I will be asking them both about it.

    RLL Rats lobectomy

Tom, I definitely will touch base with both my gp and oncologist on Monday about this. I did see a pulmonologist when I was in the hospital Monday, I've never had one yet which i find odd. He was super nice and helpful...I may keep him 🙂. It seems when I can't get my breath I go into a panic and it just multiplies. When I was in the hospital both times they gave me zanex which seemed to somewhat keep me from freaking out but it also made me sleepy sooo.I feel amazing other than this one problem, never really had pain just soreness.
  6. Goodness Ken you're having a time with this chyle...I hate that you're having to have another procedure but hopefully they can make this better. Im 2 weeks out from my lobectomy and never really had any pain but can't seem to catch my breath...hoping we both kick this thing in the rear!

    RLL Rats lobectomy

Tom, Yes my oncologist had already mentioned probably chemo after surgery. I am having horrible shortness of breath which landed me back in the hospital for a night. Aside from a small pneumothorax and some resolving crepitus they said my lungs are clear. They did prescribe a nebulizer with albutetol but it only works for a while. My pulsoxometer constantly says my oxygen is 97/98 ish but I still feel like I can't get my breath. Have an appointment with my gp and oncologist on Monday. Any advice?
  8. Haven't posted for a bit as its been a flurry of tests and appointments leading up to my lobectomy. Anyway, my rats lobectomy was done on Friday May 26 at Vanderbilt here in Nashville. I was discharged Sunday 2 days later. I've been surprised at the lack of pain (not complaining I was expecting worse). Only Tylenol and ibuprofin but have the big guns if I need them. I'm seriously glad this part is done. Having intermittent shortness of breath and have also gotten crepitus which is so strange. Had xray yesterday as I was worried about all the swelling and shortness of breath. Results showed Stable small right pneumothorax. Increased subcutaneous emphysema in the right lateral chest wall and lower neck. Anyone have this afterwards? Tips? Tricks? The shortness of breath is what freaks me out the crepitus is just plain strange lol. I see the oncologist on Monday and see what the plan is 🙂
  9. Ken, Glad you're healing well! My RLL Rats lobectomy is scheduled for the 26th and hearing that you're doing well with yours is encouraging as I'm getting super nervous the closer it gets. Happy to get it removed but still apprehensive. Keep us updated with your progress!
  10. Hi Kamoto, I'm totally trying to be positive, just really scared. Just taking each day as it comes 🙂
  11. Hi Renee, I understand the feeling alone part...even though I have a large family for support they are the only people I have told about my diagnosis. I kind of feel some sort of way about telling people, it feels like I'm ashamed or something, I can't put my finger on it but it makes me really uncomfortable so I get the feeling alone. Praying your lobectomy goes well and you recover fast. Still waiting on a date for mine.
  12. Thanks so much Bridget! You guys are a wealth of information when there's so much uncertainty. I met with the surgeon on Tuesday and am waiting to get a couple of pre-surgery tests done and then awaiting scheduling. She said it would definitely be a lobectomy and not a resection. I'm sure when I get the hard date and time I'm going to go into major anxiety mode and will probably have a million more questions...but as my husband and daughter said this is a positive move in the right direction.
  13. Thats awesome Ken! I pray for the same result. Did you have a wedge resection or lobe/lobes removed?
  14. Thank you Tom and Lou for the advice. I will definitely be reading these to try and prepare. My oncologist did mention that if I am eligible for surgery and once complete we would look at additional treatment to take care of any cells that may have gotten away. I guess he is waiting on the surgery to order the NGS panel as the pathology report said that specimen is borderline-sufficient for a limited NGS panel so a larger sample would be better? Is it normal for every step to seem to take so long? It seems akin to running against the wind and taking one step forward and three back.
  15. Hi everyone, I've been reading on this site for a couple of months now while going through the process of ct scans, pet scans, biopsy, etc. and I just want to say that you guys are so inspiring. I would be lying if I said that I wasn't very scared. My tumor is 1.7 cm and is adenocarcinoma in the RLL. No biomarker testing yet as I have a consult with the surgeon on Tuesday. Any thoughts or tips would be much appreciated as I am just now processing this and I'm absolutely not sure I'm handling it all that well.
