  1. ***Your Brain is 47% Female, 53% Male*** Your brain is a healthy mix of male and female You are both sensitive and savvy Rational and reasonable, you tend to keep level headed But you also tend to wear your heart on your sleeve
  2. Robin, Of course everyone is different and you should ask your doctor, but I will share my mom's experience with you. Mom initially was on the every 21 day plan, but after the 2nd chemo, she was put on the weekly program. Mom became very neutropenic after her first treatment. Also one month prior to beginning treatment, she had a blood clot on her lung and was started on Coumadin. Her oncologist was managing the Coumadin and she had to go in for regular blood tests. Between the neutropenia and the need for frequent checks for the Coumadin, her oncologist put her on the weekly program. The chemo given every 21 days is stronger and can be difficult to tolerate which would be a reason to have it weekly. Good luck to you.
  3. My mom's experiences echo yours. She has a couple of friends who have breast cancer who assume Mom was on the same treatment. Even after Mom explained that she has lung cancer and was on such and such, these people would continue to act surprised that her treatment was different. Also it is now almost 2 years after diagnosis, and people we do not see often still give us the look like they are shocked that Mom looks so good, almost as if they are disappointed. We could tell that some people were really only curious what Mom "looks like" with lung cancer.
  4. I do not feel guilty at all. To be truthful, I feel if those people have the stamina to stand outside in the heat all day, they could get an honest job. Also I prefer to write a check for charitable donations so I have a record at tax time. Illegalizing the nuisance of those beggars at major intersections sounds like a good idea to me. They are an unneccessary distraction to drivers.
  5. It takes about a week to die without any nourishment. In 1998 my grandmother had a massive stroke and lost her ability to swallow. Hospice was called in and explained that it takes about a week to die that way and that the person is beyond experiencing hunger or thirst. She was kept comfortable with Roxicet drops and died 6 days later. So sorry your family has to go through this.
  6. I am 44 but look way younger. (My secret is that I am not married and have no kids.) LOL Anyway, I love to tell my age and see the shocked look on people's faces and then they tell me how I do not look nearly that old.
  7. Mom originally smoked Viceroy and switched to Vantage partway through her smoking career. I guess Vantage was a lower tar cigarette. (Ovviously that did not make a difference.) She smoked for 33 years, having quit in 1984.
  8. Absolutely! I don't care if it is heads or tails. By the time I could see which side was up, I would already be bent down, so I may as well go for it. Furthermore, if I am with someone, it is good luck for both the giver and recipient to give the penny to a companion. My mom keeps the pennies given to her in a separate pile. I just spend them.
  9. Earrings and Watch come on when I leave the house and off at home. I always have my froggie on a chain short necklace, evil eye bracelet and awareness rubber bracelets on. I feel naked if I have to remove these items for a medical procedure.
  10. I make an awesome pasta salad with Salad Supreme, Italian dressing, elbow pasta, and an assortment of veggies. It is a hit every time I make it.
  11. 44% Yankee. I guess you can take the girl out of Ohio but you cannot take the Ohio out of the girl. LOL
  12. I would not order a bathing suit from a catalog, I need to try the suit on first.
  13. I do worry about getting lung cancer. Although I have never smoked, I have a 30-year history of exposure to second-hand smoke. Right after my mom was diagnosed, I had to beg my PCP to order a chest x-ray which was normal. I know that a spiral CT is the best way to screen for lung cancer but insurance does not cover it unless you have a suspicious chest x-ray. It is my hope that in time, a spiral CT will be as routine as mammograms and colonoscopies for screening purposes, especially for those of us at high risk. One of mom's friends said that after being diagnosed with cancer, one tends to worry that any new ache and pain could be more cancer. Unfortunately this worry spreads to family members too.
