  1. Don, I have always admired your love for Lucie and your dedication to LCSC. You continued to reach out to all of us even when your own heart was aching from the loss of Lucie. I completely understand. I find it hard to come back too. It is these choices we need to make that better our healing. Lucie is looking down on you with pride for you continuing the work in your ministry. I send you off with love and best wishes. I will check in with Katie to see how you are doing. I also must agree thoroughly that Rick and Katie are angels on earth. The support, love and encouragement I received here saved me during a dark time in my life. All my best to you, Don.
  2. I have been thinking of you too. Sending you my best. My heart goes out to you.
  3. I am so very sorry. You are an amazing woman and my heart goes out to you during this extremely difficult time.
  4. Isn't it amazing how people are brought into our lives and then the impact they have on us. I can't tell you enough how happy I am for you and Brian. You will soon be blessed with two special miracles.
  5. My heart aches for you and all that your family is going through. You are in my thoughts.

    Firsts

The firsts are so difficult. I have found that time has eased the pain, but it will never go away. Now I feel like I am facing all the firsts with my second daughter that my mom will never get to experience. My heart goes out to you. Hold on to your precious memories, those can never be taken from you.
  7. I watch Grey's all the time and I was just repeating that line to my husband and said that line says it all. I don't know how to function in a world without my mom. I paddle along, but not really getting anywhere. I sobbed when they talked about letting his father go.
  8. I am always shocked at the lack of compassion of some doctors. They are wrong and can't tell anyone how long they will live. My mom was in ICU and the on call pulmonologist walks in and tells my mom she won't make it out of the hospital. My mom was always so positive and it sunk her spirits into depths I hadn't seen. But my feisty mom took it as a challenge and not only made it out of the hospital, but she was more spunky than I had seen her during her treatments. I learned to never ever trust any doctor when they give a timeline. Please don't let this bring down your spirits and hopes. There are options and lots of people beating the odds. My uncle was given a year after being diagnosed with lung cancer and lived 11 years (passing away from a non-cancer related cause) and never had a reoccurence. My thoughts go out to you.
  9. Thanks so much for the update, Connie. My heart goes out to Katie and her family during this time. Katie, your son is a compassionate and wise soul. Big hug to you my friend.
  10. A big big hug from me! Holding you in my thoughts.
  11. You are blessed! And how wonderful of you to share with us. My thoughts are with you this holiday season.
  12. Dear Jill, My advice is to get a second opinion and fast. My mom ended up in the hospital with fluid in her lungs the pulmonologist on duty (who just met my mom) told her to get her things in order, because she would never make it out of the hospital. She was the absolute cruelest doctor I have ever encountered, no bedside manner whatsoever. My mom battled back and got out of the hospital and was better than ever, she proved them all wrong. We knew in our hearts when the time was right to call hospice. We never gave up hope. I learned through my mom's fight that you have to be your own advocates. My mom's oncologist unfortunately didn't specialize in lung cancer and so I brought up clinical trials that she had never heard about. I am so sorry you are going through this. I am here if you need to chat. Sending you my thoughts.
  13. Sending you all my best dear Andrea for a beautiful baby. And of course I am keeping you in my thoughts for your tests on Tuesday. Blessings to you.

  25. I had numerous voicemail messages from my mom that I saved after I moved. I used my video camera. I held the phone up to the microphone piece of the camera. The sound came out well...then I figure I can transfer the tape at a later point to CD.
