Oh Holly, What a beautiful and loving letter to your mother. Thanks for sharing it with us. I am so sorry for your pain, I know so much of what you are going through. I wrote my mom a similiar letter and gave it to her at the birth of my daughter (her one and only grandchild). I never felt like I left anything unsaid with my mom. I know she knew how much I loved her and how very much she loved me. I send you strength and peace during these difficult days.

Mine varies between country, old rock, and jazz. I love live music and dancing. One of my favorite activities. My mom played the guitar and sang in lounges, so I love music. I really enjoy Kenny Chesney, Dave Matthews, Van Morrison and Norah Jones, among a few.

Good ole' fashioned Hershey bars, Reese's peanut butter cups, sweettarts, kit kats...okay pretty much all the candy I bought for trick or treaters in hopes we might only get one and I get to eat the rest.

I am so excited for these. I will be placing my order. Thanks so much for all your hard work, Andrea!!! Now while Brian is lifting you do some resting and take care of those heart palpatations. My friend had those, because of anxiety and stress. She didn't like them either!

Andrea, you are so sweet! What a nice post. It is my pleasure to be doing something for a great cause and in honor of those who mean so much to me. I hope my mom would be proud. My profile photo is of my fundraiser from last year. I was joined by a few friends. It will be the same this year and then next year my hope is to make it even bigger.

Mine would be pizza, deli sandwiches or thai food (does that count as fast food). I am not a big fast food person. I do like fries, but that is about it.

Joyce, I am so sorry to hear about Steve's condition. You are an amazing woman to offer others hope and encouragement during this difficult time. You all will remain in my prayers.

Italy of course...My husband and I would sip wine, eat food and drink cappucinos outdoors while listening to live music and also enjoying romantic dinners. We would visit Tuscany and take in the countryside. Then I would travel to Southern France or Spain to lounge on the beaches reading, reading and more reading, oh and maybe get a massage too.

My beloved mom was diagnosed in March 2003. My world ceased to exist. I felt so helpless and started Internet searches. Through luck I found this site. It was a blessing. Over 2 years later I still get so much from people here.

He is not really a celebrity (did write some books), but Cleveland Amory. He was an animal rights activist and opened a Ranch of Dreams (a solace for abandoned animals) in Dallas Texas. If not him, then I would probably pick Matthew McConnaghey. So I could find out if he is as good looking in person as he appears on TV.

Millie, I am so sorry your mom, you and your family have to go through this. My mom was receiving chemo treatments and we always thought if anyone could beat it she could. We never talked about her not making it. So when the time came when my dad and I could no longer handle her care ourselves we called hospice. We didn't call them sooner, because we too never wanted my mom to think we were giving up. It was the best thing we did. By talking to them I felt that calling hospice doesn't mean you are giving up. They specifically told us that if my mom showed improvement and wanted to pursue treatment again then she could. They were a support for us. Unfortunately my mom never improved, but hospice made her final days so peaceful and comfortable. Second opinions are very valuable. It can give you a peace of mind. Don't ever ever feel like you are giving up. I can tell from your post that you love your mom dearly and would do anything to help her. I told hospice that I wanted my mom to be comfortable and have dignity...she got both. Thinking of you.

I too had a wonderful childhood. So many good memories. Our family vacations to Lake Chelan, Washington every year for over 32 years was one of the highlights...my brother and I still talk about the fun we had during those days. The times when I would lay my head in my mom's lap, she would stroke my hair and sing to me. She used to sing in nightclubs. Boy how I miss hearing her sing! My dad being home by 4pm from work (no working 12 hour days) and playing in the yard while he mowed the lawn or played catch with us. The carefree days...
