  1. Thanks everyone, for all your wishes. I'm so glad I was able to see him at Christmas.
  2. So sorry for you, so glad she met her grandbaby. It's the Circle of Life And it moves us all Through despair and hope Through faith and love Till we find our place On the path unwinding In the Circle The Circle of Life
  3. You might want to tell this turkey about my sister-in-law, a dedicated vegetarian since her teens, always went out of her way to buy organic everything: died at age 35 from lymphoma.
  4. You're wrong there, LA, I don't. Even though it's all in English I feel like Bill and I are speaking two different languages. I said something bad about tobacco - note: NOT about tobacco users, and he got all worked up and said I was judging when all I was judging was the darn tobacco NOT the users. I wished Bill well and he twisted it into a threat. He called me a sociopath. What he is doing is downright manipulative, but many people buy into it. There may be a drama queen here, but it's not me. I came here for information and maybe support, and there are some kind people here, but I sure can't say there's much of that from the most judgmental of you.
  5. I met him once in Scottsdale, he was a very nice guy. Such a shame.
  6. The reason a dog has so many friends is that he wags his tail instead of his tongue. -Anonymous Don't accept your dog's admiration as conclusive evidence that you are wonderful. -Ann Landers If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went. -Will Rogers There is no psychiatrist in the world like a puppy licking your face. -Ben Williams A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself. -Josh Billings The average dog is a nicer person than the average person. -Andy Rooney We give dogs time we can spare, space we can spare and love we can spare. And in return, dogs give us their all. It's the best deal man has ever made. -M. Acklam Dogs love their friends and bite their enemies, quite unlike people, who are incapable of pure love and always have to mix love and hate. -Sigmund Freud I wonder if other dogs think poodles are members of a weird religious cult. -Rita Rudner A dog teaches a boy fidelity, perseverance, and to turn around three times before lying down. -Robert Benchley Anybody who doesn't know what soap tastes like never washed a dog. -Franklin P. Jones If I have any beliefs about immortality, it is that certain dogs I have known will go to heaven, and very, very few persons. -James Thurber If your dog is fat, you aren't getting enough exercise. -Unknown My dog is worried about the economy because Alpo is up to $3.00 a can. That's almost $21.00 in dog money. -Joe Weinstein Ever consider what our dogs must think of us? I mean, here we come back from a grocery store with the most amazing haul -- chicken, pork, half a cow. They must think we're the greatest hunters on earth! -Anne Tyler Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea. -Robert A. Heinlein If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you; that is the principal difference between a dog and a man. -Mark Twain You can say any foolish thing to a dog, and the dog will give you a look that says, 'Wow, you're right! I never would've thought of that!' - Dave Barry Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole. -Roger Caras If you think dogs can't count, try putting three dog biscuits in your pocket and then give him only two of them. -Phil Pastoret My goal in life is to be as good of a person my dog already thinks I am.
  7. After a 15 month battle with lung cancer, Terry died Wednesday, January 4, 2006, at age 49. He had requested no funeral. Please pray especially for his mother, who learned of his passing in the newspaper. He leaves his wife, two sons, mother, two brothers, a sister, and a large loving extended family. He was a computer geek ever since high school when computers were a new and very foreign thing to most of us, and computers, especially robotics, was his vocation and career. He lived, where else? of course, in Silicon Valley and rode the wave of high-tech success.
  8. It's considered Traditional Healing in Africa, Americans might call it voodoo.
  9. A British friend of mine tried mainstream treatments for his cancer but grew frustrated with western medicine and went to the African country of Benin, where a village elder performed a ritual spiritual cleanse, or something similar to what we think of as voodoo. What he did is not something that is advertised or targeted to cancer patients. He sought out the healer, not vice-versa. He said he began to feel better almost immediately, and stayed there almost a year. I mentioned this to late my sister-in-law as she was going through her battle with lymphoma and she said if she didn't have kids, she would jump on it. What do you think, would you be open to this type of traditional healing? I realize there are skeptics out there - so know that I am not advertising, promoting, advising, suggesting or in any other way saying that this should be done. Also know that this post (and any other post I might make) is not intended to hurt, embarass, anger or otherwise threaten any cancer patient, present, past or in the future; any caregiver, clergy member, relative, medical attending, extended family, neighbor, mailman, garbage collector, dental hygienist, gardener, mechanic or other person employed currently in the past or in the future, of the reader.
  10. I know it's hard for you to let go. I hope your sister gets there in time. Take comfort in knowing he's ready to go and there are many waiting to greet him when he arrives.
  11. My sister-in-law died this past July 14 from complications of bone marrow transplant during her battle with lymphoma, and I became active in organizing our city's first ever "Lymphomathon". I found that many oncologists were happy to have our event literature in their offices. We organized a pep rally for the volunteers and got them to pass out lots of event literature. We did have a tough time getting big sponsors, but a few of the pharmaceutical companies that produce drugs specifically for lymphoma, City of Hope, and a grocery chain here which sells a lot of organic produce came through for us big time. A lot of generous offers came through at the last minute, for example, a DJ plus music for the event. Good luck, don't give up! Here is a link to our lymphomathon site - first ever, we raised over 60K for lymphoma in spite of Katrina and the Tsunami! http://www.kintera.org/faf/home/default ... ent=122369 Several teams organized, in addition to the walk, dinners where they invited people, asking them to donate the sum they would have paid for a nice dinner. One team did a barbeque pool party at their home that was hugely successful. A local restaurant held a fundraiser meal also, with free entertainment. There a lots of ways to raise funds and raise awareness.
  12. This should be on a sticky for future reference.
