  1. I'd be curious to see which proclamations they thought were more important. Sorry for the setback, but Jaime, your advocacy is admirable. Thanks!
  2. Hey, Judy! She has an appointment with her oncologist in 2 weeks to go over the CT/PET. The letter mentioned a rescan in 6 months, which is her current CT/PET schedule. I'm hoping the oncologist will ease her mind about this. Thanks! Kim
  3. Thank You, Everyone! Well, wouldn’t you know it… We were celebrating her clean CT scan. So I get home from work and there’s a letter on the table from her radiologist about her recent mammography. They detected some changes which were “probably benign”. Probably nothing to worry about (said Kim), but just enough to get a little background train of thought going in her head. And then the restaurant was a little disappointing. New ownership. Just wasn’t quite the same. No, it didn’t turn into a bad evening. We went home, started a fire in the fireplace, put on some music (louder than usual, the nest was empty), had a few beers and had a lot of fun. Everything changes. "Where did we go wrong We had all the magic to put us on our way And all the tragedy, that we ever want to see But you know I'm right When I say the best is yet to come" - Justin Hayward
  4. Tonight we celebrate my beautiful wife’s 4th anniversary of survivorship at a favorite restaurant where we went on our first date 20 years ago. I truly am a lucky man.
  5. Hi, Marianne- I had to respond because I laughed out loud about your mask idea! My wife, Bev, was also diagnosed SCLC limited and went through just about the same regime as you. I’m afraid I can’t be much help to your question as I can’t be certain when she started losing her hair. I think it was after the PCI. She was very fatigued for at least a month afterwards. But her energy and hair came back eventually. That was 3 years ago and I hope you have the same response. Best Wishes, Kim
  6. We're with you! What a ride, huh? We hope there will be many good times ahead. Congrats! Kim & Bev
  7. Hi, Christy- That is just a tremendous update. I wish you and Darrell well and many more happy milestones.
  8. Welcome, Gabinka- This is a great place for support, questions and people who know what you and your family are going through. My wife, Bev, also had an early diagnosis of SCLC. That was 4 years ago and she is alive and well today. Best wishes to your father!
  9. This was so tragic. They left behind four year old twins.
  10. ... getting arrested! Not that I've ever done anything that I should be arrested for!!
  11. Hi, Kathy- You sound like you're ready to take on this hurdle and get past it. My wife Bev was diagnosed with SCLC Limited in Sept. 2004. She was determined to fight with every thing it took. Radiation, chemo and finally PCI. She made it through and is alive and well, no sign of any disease. I hope your treatments turn out easier than you might be anticipating. Best Wishes,
  12. We always get a kick out of a song by The Firm: "Well, I'm not uptight Not unattractive Turn me on tonight I'm Radioactive!"
  13. Hi, Connie- My wife, Bev, was very fatigued after her PCI. I think it was about 3 months until her hair started to come back, but she has a full head of hair now. This was the toughest period of her treatment. It's been over 3 years since then. Best wishes,
  14. It doesn't seem right that your sister was taken away so young. You have my condolences. The obit was fine. It conveys what people need to know more than that she died of cancer- that she was part of a loving family.
  15. A stand of cedars A row of white pine 6 maples, one huge one about 80 years old 3 spruce 3 Chinese dogwood An old peach An old pear Kwanzan cherry Star magnolia I love the trees, but every fall I hate those maples!
  16. Welcome, Shelly- You're preaching to the choir! Well said and I agree with you. Best Wishes, Kim
  17. Glad to hear your Mom has made it through. My wife, Bev, went through the same treatments. Don't be surprised if she still feels crappy for the next couple of months. That stuff takes a toll on you, but it gets better. Best Wishes, Kim
  18. My wife , Bev, was diagnosed with limited SCLC in September 2004. She went through all the treatment protocols and is currently disease-free. You can find her story in the "My Story" forum. There definitely is hope! Best wishes, Kim
  19. I'm sorry to read this and for all that you've both been through.
  20. In 2002, my wife Bev read Dr Henchke’s book “Lung Cancer”. She started getting preventative CT scans and in 2004 a SCLC tumor was detected at a very early stage. I believe she is alive and well today because of Dr Henchke’s work. It’s troubling that her accomplishments may be tainted by this issue.
  21. Hi, Laura- Thank you for the info on amrubicin. It sounds promising. And a Thank You to your Mom for her bravery in helping us all by furthering research which we all need so desperately. I also share your frustration over the trial rules. I would be furious! Hopefully, the new trial will deliver even better results. I hope your Mom continues to fight and prevail. Best Wishes,
  22. Ned- I'm surprised the Mrs. is going along with all this. That dog is in love with you!
  23. P.S. I Love You

Julia & Family- My sincere condolences for your loss. I can only shake my head and wonder why.
  24. P.S. I Love You

    She's here

Congrats, Nick & Keri! You two are going to be great parents. Now the fun starts!
  25. Bev bought me a telescope for Christmas, as she knew I’ve loved astronomy since I was a kid. We all were out in the yard to watch. The highlight for us was when I focused the telescope on the bright, yellow “star” right next to the Moon. I got such a thrill to hear Bev and my daughters gasp as they peered into the viewfinder and beheld the rings of Saturn. It was the first time I had seen them, too. To see that familiar shape we all know through pictures was so cool.
