    Always Cold

My dad was always cold during chemo, and he still is usually pretty chilled, even 2 years later. He lost a bunch of weight too, so that played a role, but in general, his ability to warm up just isn't very strong. Our doc said this is normal, and that we don't need to worry about it. We brought in some great sweatshirts, and we all laugh when he wears his stocking cap in June! Blessings, Jen

    Cancer Sucks

The weather is beautiful, the birds sing me awake in the morning, and my children are hugging each other and living in peace (unusual, I know!) but deep inside is that ache; that ache I know so many of you know. It is the ache that cancer is out there. It is real, it is hurting people, and taking from them what they hold so dear. Urgh!!!!! I just needed to vent. This week I found out about 3 people who had/have cancer... 19 year old student who found it in his ankle. 16 year old girl who had a melanoma on her back 64 year old mom of daycare who has recurring cancer Like I said, cancer sucks. Sorry for being negative but I needed to vent. Jen

  14. Oh, I am so sorry to read your post. I think at this point it sounds like your doc is trying to ge her "healthy" before he begins treatment of any kind. I know my dad's doc said that the number one thing one can do in regards to remission...because you certainly can't control whether the cancer comes back or not, is to be as healthy as possible, so that you are ready to have whatever they can, thrown at you... Scary, I know. I just posted in another thread that I do think we have to be advocates of our own health care. In other words, if you are unhappy in your current situation, you might want to consider getting another opinion. Blessings to you, Jen
  15. 1st...talk to your doc about it.. 2nd...seek a second opinion if you don't like what you hear. Unfortunately we have to be our own advocates. Blessings, Jen

    A wonderful passing

  18. I used to make jewelry...and still do if I have time, but with the the two kids, and all those little pieces, it is a tough sell!
  19. Rob, Thank you for your uplifting post. We all need these, and there are so many people who visit, who never post, but who need at least one success story to hang their hat on, and make their own. If one person can do it...so can others. Blessings to you...congrats on the remission...and I am so glad you are joining us...but wish you never had to go through all I am sure you have. Blessings, Jen
  20. Paul, Welcome aboard. I am so sorry that you need to be here, though. Please know you have come to a wonderful place, filled with wonderful people who share in this horrible disease. Be sure to update your profile... Blessings, Jen
  21. My neighbor's sister was recently diagnosed, and it was staged at NSCLC Stage II. First of all...what does this mean? She told me that there was lymph node involvement in 2 of the nodes, and that they did surgery to remove 1/4 or 1/2????? of one of the lungs. This is the part I don't understand, and I hope someone can explain it... She is opting not to have chemo because right now they "have it 50/50. If they do chemo it only gives another 4%." I think this is what I heard and I don't know what that means....in the SCLC world, chemo is VITAL...is it not that way for NSCLC? Thanks guys...you are the best. Jen
  22. I agree...don't be afraid to look into another doc. i can say that while dad had mild headaches (and he is a tough old bird) he never had anything unbearable. I, on the other hand, am an advocate for PCI, as SCLC is so microscopic that there is no way they could know it was somewhere until it grew big enough to see and then in that case, it because a treatment issue in a different way. I support you no matter what you decide, so know I am here for you! Jen
  23. Grrrrrr....take a look at Don (from Texas') post in My Story...I think he had something similar to this and is now 5 years out of remission...and we all know what that magical 5 year mark means...CURED! Stay strong and have hope! jen
  24. Linda, I am so sorry about the stress you all have. Cancer is unfair in that it does that...changes our lives. Please know you have come to a wonderful place, filled with hope, peace, and information. Keep us in the loop, and may you know God's healing grace. Blessings, Jen
