    about my dad

It looks like the end is close. The hospice nurse said she was surprised she did not get a call in the middle of the night last night. My dad's bp was 70over47. Going down all the time. It is so hard losing a parent and know there is not a thing you can do for them.

    about my dad

My dad has gone hill very fast just from the last time I posted. Me and My mom went today to the funeral home. The hospice nurse told us the other day the reason he sleeps so much is part of the decline. My dad has already departed us in his mind. He can no longer think and I think that's the cancer on the brain. My dad is just a shell of a man. I still can not believe how fast this came on and how fast he went down hill. The doctor said they had a 30% chance of the first chemo working it had already spread so far by the time they found it. jodi1715

    about my dad

Yes he is being seen by a oncologist at St. Joseph Cancer Center. My dad has always had high blood pressure now he does not have to take his medicine anymore. Yes he had a biopsy to determine cancer and what kind. Small cell lung cancer. We have not given up on him getting better. My dad is the one that has given up. jodi1715
  5. Everybody has been really helpful in our church. People keep asking us why we have given up but we have not my dad has. I don't think he wants to try anything else because it all makes him so sick and he hurts so bad. jodi1715
  6. So sorry to hear about your mom. We will be praying for you, your mom, and your whole family. jodi1715

    about my dad

Back in the first of june my dad was having problems with his hips and knees hurting and a lump on his left shoulder blade. His doctor said it was just arthritis and the lump was a pulled muscle. The medicine he gave him did not help. So my mom took him to a orthopdeic specialist. He had x-rays done that showed nothing. He then had a cat scan done. Then a mri and cat scan. Last he did a bone scan and told my mom it looked cancer to take him to his regular doctor. By this time my dad could not even walk. We had to take him by ambulance to the er. They did a cat scan and found part of his right lung had collasped. They transfered him to a better hospital. That was the first of August they found out it is small cell lung cancer. It had at that time already moved into his brain, his bones, and he has tumors on his spinal column. They started three weeks of radiation then did one day of chemo. He got so sick we took him last Tuesday and his blood pressure was 50 something over 30 something. His liver started failing. He spent a week in the hospital and got out saturday. The doctor said they could not do anymore chemo or radiation because he would never make it through. They have called in hospice. The doctor told my mom more or less that it has gone to far. It could be two weeks or longer. No one knows how long. My boys are all in school and helping me when I break down. jodi1715
  8. My Dad has just been diagonsed with lung cancer the first of August. They tried treatment but it almost killed him last week. They told us it could be two weeks or longer. I am going to be one of his caregivers as I have just quit my job. My last day is September the 14th.. I need suggestions on how to cope with everything going on in my life. I have three boys. My husband just started a new job when all this started and is out of town except on weekends. Jodi1715
