Hi All –
Thank you so much for the forum.
A brief introduction – my name is Kevin, I live in Falls Church, VA – very near Washington DC. 47 years old and have smoked for about 30 years –
I had a mass discovered in my upper left lung back in April. I had been hospitalized for a car accident and it was recommended that I follow-up with my doc when I got stable and returned home. Unfortunately, I got MRSA pneumonia while in that hospital – my other lung filled with fluid, collapsed and I was hospitalized again for a month.
Seems they never checked my left lung while I was in the second hospital – so – since then I have had many X-rays. MRI, CAT and PET scans. They have found nothing.
Last Friday I had a broncoscopy – doc called last night – found it inconclusive. Now I have a needle biopsy scheduled. Doc seems to think it is cancer – they have more or less suggested that all along. I guess if the biopsy is negative they just go in there and cut it out.
Well – ain’t that just dandy. I must admit I am scared, and getting more so with each test they take. Honestly – I am a recovering alcoholic so I understand all too well the importance of a support group. First step was to find this group and let folks know what is going on with me. I am hopping for the best, but planning for the worse.
I have more hope since I found your group - Bless you all – I will keep reading and posting -
