  1. At the risk of doing a me too - aggressive for me. I had the lobectomy, left also and asked for the oncol. I am doing the chemo even though my PCP and surgem were on the fence. At least I know I have done all I can to kill it. PET is not to aggressive - I would pay out of pocket for the info - best of luck - Kevin

    Clear margins!

Just got back from my surgeon’s office – pathology reports on my lung margin tissue shows no metastases – good news. I just have to behave and see the oncologist at the end of the month. Probably 4 cycles of Chemo, about 12 weeks. Other than that, I am doing pretty well. Feel OK – breathing is labored, but that is normal given they cut out half my lung…hehehe – what should I expect. I will check in later. Thanks for all your support

  8. Do your best to have a fantastic holiday young lady - and thank you for your kind words
  9. Well. Doc called with results - Biopsy determined nonsmall cell lung cancer, stage IB about 4.1 cm – recommends surgery and referred me to oncology although based on what I have read and seen here, perhaps a second opinion is now in order. Although I am a bit numb and shocked, I can’t say I am too surprised. Up to the age of 35, I lived a fairly rough lifestyle, drinking, smoking…etc – some days I am surprised I have made it to 47 aside from the cancer. Like Don say’s – “It is what it is” – hope you don’t mind I swiped that Don? – perhaps we need t-shits with red lettering – any advice or suggestions regard my diagnosis would be much welcomed – thanks to you folks at least I now know this is not a death sentence – which is how I would have taken it had I not found you guys - Thanks

  11. Hi - sorry to hear about your father. Given he is a veteran and has been turned down - I would write your congressman / senator, call for that matter. Track your activities and their response - or lack thereof - if you can't get help that way, I would contact local newspapers and TV stations. I think you may be very suprised how this can work out - keep us posted.
  12. Hi - I just got here myself, welcome. I did a lot of reading before I posted. Everyone seems caring and helpfull - I hope you are as glad you found this place as I am, given your situation. We are not alone and your father is in my prayers - bless you both -
  13. Hi All – Thank you so much for the forum. A brief introduction – my name is Kevin, I live in Falls Church, VA – very near Washington DC. 47 years old and have smoked for about 30 years – I had a mass discovered in my upper left lung back in April. I had been hospitalized for a car accident and it was recommended that I follow-up with my doc when I got stable and returned home. Unfortunately, I got MRSA pneumonia while in that hospital – my other lung filled with fluid, collapsed and I was hospitalized again for a month. Seems they never checked my left lung while I was in the second hospital – so – since then I have had many X-rays. MRI, CAT and PET scans. They have found nothing. Last Friday I had a broncoscopy – doc called last night – found it inconclusive. Now I have a needle biopsy scheduled. Doc seems to think it is cancer – they have more or less suggested that all along. I guess if the biopsy is negative they just go in there and cut it out. Well – ain’t that just dandy. I must admit I am scared, and getting more so with each test they take. Honestly – I am a recovering alcoholic so I understand all too well the importance of a support group. First step was to find this group and let folks know what is going on with me. I am hopping for the best, but planning for the worse. I have more hope since I found your group - Bless you all – I will keep reading and posting -
