I've not posted in a long time, but I have been keeping up with some of your posts. There are a lot of new members here but I hope some of the older members may still remember us and I wanted to let them know Maurice passed March 18th. When I found this board back in 2006 I found it a great source of strength and inspiration and it helped us tremendously. Unfortunately it became clear a few months ago that Maurice was not going to win this one fight. He had survived 2 other cancers, but not this one. My soulmate is gone and I will love him and miss him forever. wendyr

(((Randy))) I logged on tonight and saw your post. Sorry this is such a painful time for you. Time seems to go so quickly and then we are left with memories. The song is beautiful and I can easily understand the effect it had on you. Take care, and know that I think of you often. Wendyr

Janette it is indeed a roller coaster and it's what we call 'the new normal' Your hubby and you have been through a lot, but keep the faith as stage 3 is indeed treatable. It's very positive that the radiation has helped and his coughing has reduced. Glad you found us but sorry you have to be here. Feel free to ask any questions, we're here to help. wendyr

Amie, you could try making milkshakes for Dad. Use ice cream with cream or half & half, add some Carnation Instant Breakfast and a scoop or two of protein powder (the kind the body builders use) You can add chocolate syrup or fruit or whatever he likes to make it taste good. Good luck wendyr

Hello Lyris,I am very sorry to read of your Mom's cancer and the fact that she is on Hospice. My husband had colon cancer in 1992 and the surgery took out about 2 feet of his large intestine and part of his rectum. He has dealt with bowel problems ever since. We have found that Lomotil 2.5mg along with the BRAT diet works the best along with a pro-biotic, the refrigerated kind you buy at the health food store. We use Healthy Trinity and it works for him. wendyr

wendyr replied to AllieTaylor23's topic in INTRODUCE YOURSELF!
Hello Allie, welcome to our group. You'll find a lot of support and information here. I know that when you first get the diagnosis it's like a bomb has gone off in the middle of your life but your Mum is fortunate in the fact that the sclc is limited and there is much hope. Let us know how we can help you and please keep us posted on her treatment plan and progress. wendyr -
Hi Jane: welcome to our group. My husband also is not interested in staging or prognosis and he just does what the oncologist tells him to do. I think this is a good thing as it keeps his mind clear so he can focus on living. I am the one who does all the research and when we show up at the oncs office, I am the one with the list of questions. I'm so glad you found us. this is a support and information community second to none. Please take the time to read the profiles of our members, you'll learn a lot. In fact you'll learn everything you never wanted to know about lung cancer. Keep us posted on your hubby's progress and treatment and let us know how we can help you. wendyr PS I used to live in Hamilton
