  1. Hello Melissa, I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I know what you are going through. I lost my father to Lung Cancer October 2007. Though it has been very hard not being able to see or talk to him everyday, it was harder watching what this disease and the medication you are one do to his physical and mental health. Please feel free to write me a PM if you want to talk. Pablo
  2. Just want to start by saying thank you to everyone who has said prayers for me and my family. This truly was a great website to go to when you needed some inspiration to get you through those tough days. With that said, I just wanted to mention that my Dad has lost his battle with Lung Cancer back on October 10, 2007. He was a great man and an even better father. He will truly be missed. Below is a link to his obituary. God Bless everyone living with this horrible disease. http://www.wrightroyfuneralhome.com/obi ... tID/969186
  3. I'm so sorry. My condolences to you and your family.
  4. My Dad passed away on 10/11/07 after a ten month battle with Lung Cancer. It still does not feel real to me. I miss him so much and I know that he is in a better place now. Just wanted to thank everyone for the prayers that everyone has sent throughout the past ten months. God Bless
  5. Hello, It's been awhile since I posted on this sight, and I'm sorry to say that my Dad's battle with Lung Cancer is nearing the end. He was in the hospital for the past week and treated for Pneumonia. Yesterday he was released and is currently at home in a hospital bed in the living room. Hospice will be visiting him everyday to make sure he is comfortable. As hard as it's going to be to have him pass, I do not want to see him in this condition, nor does he want us to see him like this. I just want to thank everyone who has giving us their prayers and support over the past 8 months. God bless
  6. Thanks for the information. I will look into these and hopefully something works out.
  7. Hello All, My Dad was recently diagnosed with Lung Cancer Stage 4. He by no means has a lot of money. My parents have always lived week to week when it comes to their finances. I have recently taken over all of their bills and find myself trying to think of what to do when his short term disability ends. Not sure if he can go back to work, and they will not be able to manage with my mom's income alone. I just need to some programs that might be of help for a low income family. Something that will cover some medical expenses or even some living expenses. With all that my Dad is going through right now, he still worries about his financial situation. Now more than ever. He always tells us that he does not want us to get hit with all these bills when he passes. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
  8. my dad had a brain MRI done and found out that his cancer has spread to his brain. I've noticed lately that his speech has been affected by this. He starts his radiation today. Just wanted to know if this has happened to anyone else, and if it goes away during your treatment. God Bless
  9. thank you very much for the link. I will look into it.
  10. Hello, My Dad was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer. doctors gave him 6 months to live. If there's one thing I hate, it's when doctors give you a time frame. This disease requires so much mental and physical strength to fight, that by putting a death sentence on it, makes it almost impossible to overcome. Well, I was wondering it there were any spanish speaking people out there that my dad can write to. He speaks english, but is more comfortable talking and writing in spanish. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  11. Hello all, Just wanted to let everyone know what a great site this is. I've received so many positive feedbacks, which makes this long road a little easier to deal with. I have a question regarding brain radiation. My dad is going in on Tuesday for his first treatment. Just want to hear from someone who has gone through this and how their results were. Also, once he starts his radiation, how long will it take for him to start noticing a difference in the way he feels? I know it varies for everyone, but I was just curious.
  12. Hello all, My dad received his results from his brain MRI today. Cancer has spread to his brain. I was hoping it would come back negative. This has been the hardest week of my life. He was going to start chemo and rad next week, but now he is only doing rad. Any positive stories regarding results of brain radiation will be appreciated. Want to share these stories with him to lift his spirits. Also, how quick can he expect to feel results from his radiatoin treatment.
  13. Just wanted to say thank you for the response. I added my dad's information to my profile. I will update it and ask any further questions that I may have. I will share these stories with him to give him hope.
  14. Hello everyone. First time on this site. A came across this site as I was trying to get as much info as possible on my dads condition, and found myself feeling better after reading so many positive stories. My dad was recently diagnosed with Lung Cancer Stage 3B. Doctors told us it was not operable. He as a large mass in his chest, one on his back and one in his neck. A brain MRI was done yesterday, have not received the results yet. I have a couple of questions. I know we are not doctors here, but any info would be greatly appreciated. Can his condition ever be operable if the medication shrinks or eliminates some of his tumors? He is going in for radiation 5 times a week and chemo once a week. They are not going to give him an aggressive dosage now. Has anyone one started off their medication with a less aggressive dosage and then moved up to an aggresive dosage? Sorry about the 20 questions. Just have a million thoughts running through my mind.
