  1. P.S. Hope you find cure for the rash quickly! All th ecreams people suggested were mentioned by my mom's dr. when she was considering Tarceva.
  2. Tanner, Thanks for your response to my post. Your comments helped immensely (sp?)! Never wanted to be an expert in lung cancer, you? Although it is helpful now, for our loved ones. Thanks again, Jennifer
  3. Tanner, Huge help. Thank you for taking the time to clarify. Hope tomorrow is better than today - hope each tomorrow only gets better! Jennifer
  4. I am afraid this isn't musch of a response, but... My husband met someone who is an essiac tea proponent, and therefore bought it for my mom. My mom's doctor told her don't start anything in a brown bottle or anything that can't be stored in bright sunlight as it may contain live cells or spores that might be counter productive, I don't know why. Definately check with your doctor, and give her/him the list of all ingredients, as well. I'm sending you all the best thoughts in this struggle!!!
  5. I'm so sorry about your fears, and your torment over what to do. I totally understand, as my mom wants to know as little as possible of the truly frightening things that she is so bravely fighting. On a recent appointmentI asked a bunch of questions when my mom was not in the room. One was, why haven't we done another brain MRI? The answer was that there was no indication of a problem, because no symptoms. Two weeks later, on a CAT of her neck for a new mass in that area, 2 brain mets showed up. Had there not been a neck tumor, would they have found the brain mets? It makes me wish I had TOLD the doctor to schedule a brain MRI, just in case, not asked. Every step of the way 'you' have to be responsible for your own tx. And, I think family is included in that 'you'. Anyway, that's my feeling on it. I wish you all the best in this trying time!
  6. My mom had another PET on 1-30, which found mass in left neck, and possible one where left lung was. She started Altima and Avestan. Then, when base-line CAT of neck came back, they found 2 brain mets. So, chemo stopped, and radiation began (10 txs, then can begin chemo again). I'm exhausted from them finding something new each time. I'm praying for 6 months of finding nothing, when I should be looking forward to forever finding nothing. My mom's amazing, though. Still working, and feeling great, physically and mentally. I guess the high dose of decadron (16mg) is to be credited. So, does anyone know why brain mets must be treated before neck tumor? Also, we thought the mets would be zapped by the radiation, but it turns out they radiate the whole brain. Is this the norm? Has anyone had this experience? Hope to hear from you!
  7. Thank you all! Sorry for my spelling. I gave the notes I took yesterday to my parents, and was typing this morning from a very cloudy, sleepy memory. I will pass your thoughts on to my mom! Thank you - it is so hard to talk about this with family and friends. I am always afraid that if I don't sound positive, they will say something to make me feel worse! Nice to know I can come here when I'm down...
  8. Yesterday, my mom went for a PET scan and they found a mass in her lymph node on the left side (where the lung was removed). The questionable spots from the CAT did not show up on the PET. Her oncologist is suggesting either Tarceva (a chemo pill) with adavant or olymped (a chemo drug done interveneously)with adavant. He said both have about the same success rate, both good. So, now we have to choose. What has been your experiences with these txs, and why did you like /not like it. We have to respond soon! Thank-you all!!
  9. I wonder if you can talk to a nurse in the doctor's office when you are on your cell phone. It sounds like your husband is depressed. I've been told this is common. Maybe the doctor or nurse can talk to him about anti-depressants. Good Luck! It does help venting, dosen't it? (My mom had her left lung removed in April '06, had stage III adenocarcenoma; tx of chemo and radiation for 3 months, awaiting PET scan on Tuesday).
  10. My mom (63, now) was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma stage III March '06. April '06 she had her left lung removed, followed by chemo and radiation. Had clear CAT & PET in Sept. In Dec, the radiologist saw tiny spots on lung and in abdomen and enlarged adrenal gland (was slightly enlarged in Sept., also.)on CAT. PET scheduled for Tues. Anyone had these indications? Any advice on what I should ask oncologist? Thank-you! Oh, should I attach my mom's dx history to my signature? How does that get posted? They are so helpful to read!
