  1. I am so sorry for your loss. I am sure it is very difficult. I will keep you in my thoughts. Candy
  2. My dad is having(another)surgery Thursday. This time to take out a cancerous spot on his liver. I am sure this is a spread from his original lung cancer.....how much is too much? I love him and he looks so frail. He is still getting around good, but I can see the toll it is taking. We have some other family issues going on so it's all tough. I worry about my daughter because she is so close to her "pop". Please keep my dad and us in your thoughts, and thanks for letting me vent!
  3. I too am sorry that you, and your family, are going through this terrible time! Pain causes us to do things that are horrible; I am glad you got him some meds. No matter what shape your husband is in, you can still take that trip, even if you never leave home. I've been reading your posts and "Eascoastladies" since I've joined, and you two are the strongest individuals!! You both are an inspiration for those (like me) who unfortunately will have to go through this in the future. Sending you lots of prayers and good wishes for the trip. Please keep us posted. Candy
  4. Missy, I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. My thoughts are with you and your family. Candy
  5. I'm sorry to hear about your father's cancer. Hang in there and get all the information you can. This site is a wonderful place for those in need! Candy

  7. Just from what my dad has been going through, be sure to check into insurance coverage, etc. My dad's radiologist is recommending cyberknife for his spot on the liver but his insurance is saying no. They said "it's not a cure, only prolonging".....I think that's the wrong way to look at treatments, but it is very costly if insurance will not cover. Just a suggestion...
  8. I am so sorry you guys are going through this! You both will be in my thoughts. Candy
  9. I am so sorry to hear about your husband. I am thinking about you and hoping you do have some help.
  10. I know exactly how you are feeling. It's been a tough time for me dealing with my dad. If you can, I would try and get your dad to get a second opinion about chemo. Can you go with him to his appointments? I think it helps the docs to meet a family member that is a good support....that way it makes it easier for you to follow up with them when your dad can't. I hope you are feeling better today! I'm starting to realize that it is one day at a time.
  11. Hi Yvette, My dad also has lung cancer with recent mets to the liver. I'm an only child too and I understand what you say about being a daddy's girl! After his dr. appt. yesterday, I've been very down. Things are not looking good for him right now and I can't imagine not having my daddy around. I am sorry to hear about your dad. I hope that you find this site helpful....I have found it very helpful lately. Welcome!
  12. Same here.....I was thinking about her and the family also. I hope to hear from her soon.
  13. Has anyone ran into the problem of insurance company not wanting to pay for cyberknife treatment? My dad, after having his lung removed, now has a small cancer spot on his liver. The physician wants to do cyberknife, but his insurance has denied. This sounds crazy to me!
  14. Mary, I will be thinking about you. Can you qualify for FMLA through your job? This could be an option if so. I like the suggestion about taking a tape recorder. Candy
  15. I am new to this site...I decided to join after reading so many nice things. My dad was diagnosed with lung cancer a year ago. In July he had the entire lung removed after chemo/radiation. He found out that he now has cancer in his liver and will be having a PET scan this week to determine the next route. At this point I am very concerned for him. I have been reading many of the posts and thought it might be helpful for me to join. Thanks Candy
