  1. My resolutions are to pass my State CNA Test, go back to work at least part-time, be a better, nicer, kinder person, take better care of my body, let my hubby know how very much I love him ~ every single day~ be a better witness to people, pray more, and write a children's book.

    I'm tired already! :D

  2. Bad, Bad rebellious teen.

I spent WAYYYY too much time alone, with no adult supervision. My mom was working the 3-11pm shift, (my parents were divorced), so I would come home after school to an empty house. She got home at about 11:30 at night.

Good recipe for a kid to get in trouble, and I did!

(Got married on the day of my 15th birthday, so that made me grow up and straighten up real quickly.)

It's New Year's Eve! Have you done anything special tonight so far?

  3. I've always said that I can't imagine how you all must feel, and I can't.

Honestly, when I "try to", I feel sick. I hurt for you. Tears sting my eyes, my heart aches, and I holler at the Lord about it being unfair.

And what is wrong with you thinking of "YOU"? It's "you" that has had your life turned up-side-down. It's "You" that has had something very precious taken away ~~ way, way too soon.

I would think that anything and everything that you go thru, is a normal reaction to losing someone that you loved beyond words. No one can "know" how you feel..... it's not possible.

I grieve for my own husband, and I still have him here beside me, so "no", I can't imagine how you feel.

Please know that I think of you guys every day, and include you in my prayers.

  4. Wish I could send you some of our warm temperatures, Jackie ~ Just for a day even! (You could go out and lay in the sunshine... get a nice tan!) :D

I'm grateful today for EVERYTHING. I woke up this morning, and the first thing I said (in my head), was "Thank you Lord, for giving us this day"!

We have SO much to be thankful for here at my house.

  5. I don't know who Jonathon Edwards and Sylvia Browne are, so I don't know if they're for real or not!

(They aren't related to Warvey Hallbanger and Tom Collins, are they?) :D

If you could go back in time and become any age again, what would it be?

  6. Have they done a study about "problem caregivers"?

I too, always have extremely good manners when I'm asking Harry's doctor questions, but sometimes I think he wishes I would be quiet and let him hurry thru with the visit.

Harry is the type of person that says he's "Fine", no matter what he really feels like, and he would never think to ask a question. He has never researched SC cancer, he doesn't remember any of the names of the Chemo meds he's received, he doesn't remember when he was diagnosed, etc. (That's okay... it's his way of handling things).

But on the other hand, "I" want to know about every possible means of a cure there is, so I ask loads of questions, and ask them to check things twice, etc.

It's YOUR life. It's VERY important, so phooey on them. Keep being stubborn. Shoot, go down in history as the biggest "Problem Patient" they've ever had!! I'd count it as an honor! :D

    Continued good luck to you.

  7. "Bread" ! I have a bunch of their albums in my closet. I even have a record player that I get out sometimes and play them on. :D

Do you collect anything? (Stuffed animals, fairy figurines, etc.)

(I collect black bear and moose "stuff" )

  8. Thanks Nyka,

I spoke with Harry last night about calling the doctor. He's says he's "fine", and just to wait til the 7th... :? ....

(He ALWAYS says he's fine. When he passed out on the kitchen floor and got a black eye, he said he was fine ~ when he fell over, (again in the kitchen), and knocked a chunk of his head off on the ceramic tile, he said the same thing)....

I wanted to kick the doctor when he went back to re-check Harry's lung sounds at the last appointment. (after I asked him about the possibility of there being too much fluid). He told me to "listen", and asked if I heard what sounded like a ripe watermelon.....??????? He said that meant there was no extra fluid.....

    So much for "modern medicine".

    Thanks for writing.

  9. Dear Tinkles, :D:wink:8) ,

You're cordially invited to come and share my 80 "stinkin'" degree weather!!!!

It's supposed to be in the 20's though, at night, in a few days, so you best hurry!

    Let's see, we're on the letter "Y"-----Hmmmmmm, what have I bought lately that's starts with a "Y"????

    A Yak!

    I really did.....not.... :D

  10. PC, only because I don't have a laptop! :D

Are you attracted to men/women with dark hair and brown eyes, or blonde hair and fair eyes?

(I LOVE dark hair and brown eye's ~~ makes no sense that both men I married, (not at the same time, hehe!), have had blonde hair and blue eyes!)

  11. Thanks Welthy and Jackie,

I believe what you said about the sounds of too much fluid not always being heard with a stethoscope.

I even thought about the fact that he might have a partially collapsed lung. I know that if it's not a "full" collapse, that you can go on for quite some time without the doctor's knowing about it....

It makes sense that radiation would weaken his ribs too, like you said, Jackie....

Dad-gummit, I hate waiting. Seems like they would at least do a plain old chest x-ray. He hasn't had one of those since before he got diagnosed.

If the pain gets any worse, I'm going to call and see if they can scoot his CT scan date up some.

    Thanks for the information.

  12. Thanks.

I asked the doctor about extra fluid possibly being the problem, when we were there for the bone scan. He listened to Harry's chest (back) twice, and told me he didn't think there was any more then usual. (He's always had "some", but not to the point that they needed to drain it or anything.)

I don't know what's up...... It could be something, or nothing, I guess.

I just hate waiting to know for sure. "Patience is a virtue" ~that I'm running out of! Thanks for writing.

  13. Tomatoes, for the salad I'm making tonight. It's 80 stinkin' degree's here! Forget cooking a big pot of chili or stew, it's too hot!

(Thanks for the description of the mints! They sound good! I'll have to travel to Chicago one of these days and buy some!)

  14. Harry is still experiencing a lot of pain in his ribs.

They've ruled out bone mets, which is wonderful, but he's also becoming more and more short of breath when he exerts himself - even a little. (He tried to put up our new mailbox yesterday, and almost fell over).

I'm wondering if it could be damage from the radiation he had, or a build up of scar tissue? Would that cause such pain?

The only other thing I can think of, is that the main tumor has grown, and I don't like that option, so I'm trying to figure out the other possibilities.

He has another scan set up for the 7th of January, so we should know for sure then.

Thanks, and hope you all have a good day today.

  15. Maybe it's just me, being from the "deep south",:wink: , but I don't have a clue what a Frango Mint is!!!!! (can someone describe it?)

Icing.... bought it for brownies that I keep forgetting to bake.

  16. Nyka, shame on you!! :D:D I'm changing your name to "Tinkles" !

I worked as a Nurse's Aide, in the Home Health Department. I also worked for a Landscaping company for a few years. (That was my favorite job! I got paid for being outside in the fresh air, and getting dirty!)

    Have you ever been camping?

  17. That's such a neat story.

I wonder why it is that there are some people that have such exceptionally strong faith, and then there are those of us (me), that seem to question everything, have "set-backs" in believing that a miracle can still happen, and just generally make things harder on themselves?

I think I probably give the Lord a major headache most of the time......

    Thanks for sharing that, Randy.
