  1. Mom's tumor has shrunk, but is not gone. The cancer has spread to her bones and they are talking about radiation in her brain as a preventitive measure. She had to go to the hospital again, this time they said it was depression, she is now on meds that will hurt her liver (which has a tumor in it). I am trying to stay strong for her, I think she has given up. We are going sown to see her at Christmas time. Thank you all for being here for us.
  2. Welcome and please let us know how you are doing.
  3. Thank you so much for giving your story, you have helped so much, and even though I am not my mother's full time caregiver (I live 2500 miles a way from her) when I am with her, I am her caregiver. You give me hope and strength, and I am grateful to you. I am sorry for your loss, but you are right, only God knows when your reward will come, and heaven knows, you desrve a good one.
  4. Mom had one more CT this morning, her neck was swollen and they did not know why. The doctor thinks the loss of blood came from an ulcer, the swollen neck is a reaction to medicine she was taking. She may get to go home tomorrow, we will see.
  5. Mom's bp dropped and she has had 4 transfusions. She also had a CT today because she is bleeding somewhere and they can not find where it is. Hopefully we will know tomorrow.
  6. Mom was put in the hospital today, her blood counts are all out of whack, and they are talking about a blood transfusion. She is also going to have a CT done in the next couple of days.
  7. My mom has wheezing also, it was so scary to hear at first, but she is getting better and the inhalers do help. Thank you for sharing your question, and it is nice to hear that it seems to be a normal thing.
  8. Thank you for sharing your story, and that there can be humor, like laughing at ourselves, with this disease. I have heard laughter is the best medicine, and you sure did give everyone a dose. Thanks again!
  9. Mikee, Sorry to hear about your loved one, it is hard, but I do like your attitude, and I am sure Char does too!Good luck on the treatment plans, and we are working with Mom on her diet to help her through the chemo also. Keep us posted.
  10. Mom has finished her third round of chemo is doing good, she is tired, but her spirits are good. I hope to go down there again in the fall and my sister is getting married soon, Mom is very happy about that. She has a docotor's appointment in a couple of weeks, we will see how things are going.

  14. Hello! Mom is doing great! Her lung is almost normal and her liver function is doing better, the doc did not have the results back, but he said he expected them to be almost normal. Thank you to everyone. Jen
  15. Glad you are here! My mom has stage IV also. She has been having chemo for a month. She seems to be doing well. I hope you and your mom enjoy the summer together. I enjoyed the 2 weeks I got to spend with my mother.
  16. Right now, no one is talking about radiation. She has 2 more chemo treatments and then they will see where to go after that. She goes to chemo every 3 weeks and she goes for 3 days, in the onco's office. Her liver functions are not getting better, not getting worse, so I am not sure what that means, she did have an appointment today and she will tell me about it in the morning.
  17. I understand the confusion that you are going through, when I was in Texas helping my mom, I didn't know my name either most of the time. I am glad that your dad's cancer was caught early enough that there is a plan for surgery. I was told one of the best things to do when you are at an appointment is to bring a tape recorder, that helped me. Best of luck to your family and my prayers are with you.
  18. Hello everyone, I just wanted to give an update on mom, she has had her second round of treatment and is doing okay. She shaved her head, so the saddness about losing her hair has gone. I talk to her daily and she is a tropper, so is my dad. I plan to go down there is the late fall. Thank you for all the words of encouragement and hope!
  19. Thank you for the updates on your friend, I have been told over and over again to never give up hope. My prayers are with the two of you.
  20. Hi! My mother was also diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. I am new at this also, and I wanted to let you know that you are not alone, my prayers are with you and your father
  21. My name is Jenifer and I live in Sequim, WA. My mother has SCLC and would love to talk to someone.
  22. My name is Jenifer and my motehr was diagnosed with SCLC that went to the liver. She is 59 years young. I live in Washington and she is in Texas. I just came home from helping her while she was in the hospital and afterwards, her lung collapsed. I have so many emotions right now and the main ones are anger and fear. Why my mother and I hate the companies for making cigerettes. I hope there will be a cure someday, and that the tobacco industry will be out of business.
