  1. He's taking a hard combination of chemo and sleep may be the way his body is healing and dealing with that. He has to eat or get nourishment though -- 30 lbs. is a huge weight loss. Try to find out what he can tolerate or even if he will just drink some high calorie things it will help. I know for awhile John was eating a lot of those real fruit Popsicles and soups, that was about all he could handle. I hope you have talked to his doctor or the chemo nurse about all this, they may be able to help or adjust his dosage. Keep us posted on how he does.
  2. Are you looking at the white athletic socks that come in a package? If you can use white many are styled so they can be folded down to make a cuff. I'm not sure what brand it is that makes a ribbed top that folds down like the old bobby socks.
  3. No-- not unless I'm really pushed then stand back. I usually bite my tongue depending on the person and the situation.
  4. That was great-- thanks for posting it.
  5. I do a lot of shopping on Amazon-- the prices are great and if you order over $25.00 the shipping is free. One year I ordered the kids entire Christmas from there-- from the Barbie dream house to x-box games, it was so nice to have it all brought to the door and all I had to do was wrap. I also buy a lot of stuff from LL Bean. I also send Cheryl's Cookies to friends out of town. Rochelle
  6. John would get photosensitive and burn very quickly. It didn't have to be a lot of sun just a few minutes and he was red. Take a good sunblock and remember it needs to be put on about 15 minutes before you go out. Have a good trip and don't forget to get a hall pass.
  7. Got to have the pumpkin pie. Even if I wanted to change the kids wouldn't let me.

    For Nancy

Thank you all so much. Nancy passed away very peacefully this afternoon. Thank you all for your good thoughts and prayers.
  9. I don't find it difficult to be around them but if I have a choice, I opt for the people that get my jokes. I really hate to explain a good joke.

    For Nancy

Nancy, a wonderful woman and the inspiration for Team Nancy at our walk is very sick. She could use all the good thoughts, prayers, and positive vibes you can send her way. She's fought very hard but she's tired and she needs some help. Thanks so much- Rochelle
  11. I couldn't stay up. This time change is killing me and I am not sleeping well. After reading Debi's post I feel like a bad mom for not staying up with all the kids.
  12. We don't have early voting in Michigan. I'll be in line on Tuesday.
  13. Ok for all of you that think eh is actually a word-- this is a copy of the text of my walk page (you don't get the pic). Team Jack Benny Team Jack Benny is formed in memory of John Molyneaux affectionately known as Jack Benny. John loved a bargain, a sale, and especially loved getting something free -- all of which earned him the nickname Jack Benny (Jack Benny was a comedian known for being cheap). John was diagnosed with NSCLC Stage IIIb in June of 2002 and given a prognosis of 4 months. He passed away October 31, 2007, living over 5 years past his diagnosis. He was able to have this time with his family due to lung cancer research which brought about new treatments. Please help us raise funds for research and cure this disease. Coincidently, the original Jack Benny also died of lung cancer. Please join our team! Rochelle, Tyler, Caitlin, and Jillian Molyneaux
  14. I thought you might be interested in our team name for Walk the Walk-- read to the end to see Jack B's cause of death. http://events.lungevity.org/site/TR/Wal ... fr_id=1420
  15. Marci- This is the hardest time-- it will get better. I know it doesn't seem like it but the radiation will end and I am willing to bet it will end with good results. I also had a lot of resentment towards people that weren't there for me or for John. I remember one day a relative was complaining about her bad day which was losing a bid on a condo. I said. "I'll trade you my day for yours any day"-- as you can imagine she got the message. Hang in there - we've all been there, we understand.

Thanks so much for the kind thoughts. The day is almost over. We decided to all get out of town for the holiday and that really helped. We went to Ann Arbor and Jillian went trick or treating with a friend's kids (Caitlin helped the dad get them around) while I passed out their candy. My friend had a baby boy yesterday so we thought that going away and helping her husband out would keep our mind off what we were doing one year ago today. I had a grief counselor come to the house on Wednesday to meet with us and I think that helped. So...in about one hour it will be November 1st and we begin year 2. Thanks for thinking of us. Rochelle
  17. Randy you just said Invasion of the Body Snatchers for Bruce didn't' you? The scariest movie I ever saw was one of the Dracula re-makes (I don't remember the exact title). One of the few times I've had nightmares after a movie.
  18. Really! Who wants to be in the beer trial? Someone contact Dr. West to get this study going. Frank Lamb would love this as long as he could have his chocolate donut.
  19. I am an only child! The person below me is adopted.
  20. Sue- I hope all goes well for your mom. I will be thinking of you both on the 30th. Rochelle
  21. I'm sorry for what you are both going through. Try to get him to drink something, anything. Dehydration will land him back in the hospital pretty quickly. These set backs happen and I've seen a lot of members here get way down only to find the right drug that will stabilize things. I hope no matter what he decides that it goes well. Rochelle
  22. Their mothers must be so proud! I can't wait to try it. R
  23. I am so sorry for your loss. Rochelle
  24. Did they say where the money will go? Just curious which organization will get the funding. It's great to see something for lung cancer.
