  1. Hey Rebecca, My dad was diagnosed late October with 3B, inoperable. He tried chemo & radiation but he is 70 yrs old and he just couldn't handle it. We are doing the "road less traveled now" good days and bad days. Spend as much time with him as possible and give him all your love. God Bless!!
  2. Hey guys, Dad was admitted to the hospital last week for pnemonia. Is home now and put on oxygen 24/7. Mom called and said that he is still having trouble getting his breath so she increased oxygen to 3 ltrs. What can we do??? Once oxygen is not helping, then what????
  3. Welcome, my dad is stage 3B-inoperable. We found out the end of October '07. He was being treated for COPD but unfortunately it was cancer. Treatments were too much for him. He has decided to live the rest of his life without the sickness and misery of chemo & radiation. He is to see his onc on 1-7-08. I try to be with him every day. My heart aches for what he is going through and I can't bear the thought of letting him go, but I'm doing better. Be there as much as you can and show him your love. Stay strong!
  4. WELCOME!!!! My dad is 3B, inoperable because the tumor is around the aeorta also. He tried Chemo & Radiation but couldn't handle it. Is doing much better now, eating and gaining strength. The treatments nearly killed him, he was so weak when he began. Hopefully your experience will be better. Good Luck and stay in touch.
  5. It's been almost 3 weeks since dad last went for treatments. He is finally starting to feel better, he is eating much better and looking much better. He said he will be alright if he stays away from the doctors, ha! It is such a blessing to watch him start to get back unto himself again.
  6. God Bless you and your family. Be strong by knowing that you are sent much love from all of us.
  7. Dad finally decided no more treatments. I am scared, hurt and a little disappointed but I understand. He was so worn down when we finally got a diagnosis and since enduring a couple months of treatment he has lost nearly 20 pounds and was sick all the time. It is his choice but again, I'm scared of what is to come.
  8. Hey Guys, I read the news posts nearly every day. It's been a busy few weeks for our family. Dad started his chemo and radiation but is backing off. He has been so sick and and at times he says it's not worth it. We had to put him in the hospital for a couple days to get his fluids built up. He has lost so much weight. I'm scared and want to keep encouraging him to go for treatment but it is his body and his life. Another bad thing about going for treatments is that he has to travel approx. 150 miles round trip and he is so weak and tired. My mom gets so upset with him and even gets short with him. Does anyone understand and have anything to offer?
  9. My dad has also had one chemo treatment. Instead of buttock pain his is low back pain. Sounds like we both have a long road ahead. Keep the faith!!!
  10. Hi! I'm Carolyn and my dad has recently been diagnosed with lung cancer and it has spread to some lymph nodes. We are awaiting an appointment with an oncologist. I have been a nervous reck and I'm sure you can all relate. We are armed for a battle!!! 11-5-07 Dad met with an oncologist and the radiation doctor. Stage 3B w/left, right and center nodes affected. Inoperable because tumor has wrapped around the aorta. 11-6-07 Dad had his 1st, 4 hr chemo. Did great. We go back tomorrow for a CT Scan and in 3 weeks another dose of chemo and start radiation. Radiation will be 5 days a week for 7 weeks. We travel over 1 hr to get to and from the hospital.
