  1. Hi Tova. I am so sorry to read the latest about your dear mom. Of course she is scared. You have received lots of good advice here. I haven't experienced brain mets yet (knock on wood) but am sending my well wishes and prayers for successful treatments for your mom. Sandra
  2. Hi Annette. I think the use of a heating pad is just fine. As for the rest, anything we can do to be healthier can't hurt. But going crazy over it is probably a bit much. Everything in moderation, and have that darn cup of coffee. Just do the best you can and enjoy what you like. That's my opinion. Sandra
  3. That is great news Joyce and thank you for sharing it with us. Continued best wishes Sandra
  4. hey there. I am sorry to read of your breathing struggles. I have sob as well but not as bad as you. The suggestion of going to cancergrace.org is a good one. It can be the treatments you are receiving as well that are giving you sob. I hope you find some answers and can remain as independent as possible. I know how hard this can be with young kids involved and my heart is with you. Sandra
  5. Hi everyone. Sorry about your rough night Judy and your worries over having chemo in a new place. I would be nervous as well, but I am sure all will be ok. Your weekend sounds great Ann. Our summer weather has returned...hot, hot, hot! Will maybe take the kids to the beach this afternoon. Happy Friday everyone! Sandra

    The 8th

I am sending you a big hug Dana. So sorry you are having a tough time. Sandra
  9. Hi there. I am sorry to read about your dear mom. I am glad that you have found this site and that it has been helpful to you. It has been a godsend for me and my journey. I was also stage 3b at diagnosis. My advice would be to make sure she drinks lots during her treatments. Even if she doesn't feel like eating. Keeping hydrated is so important during chemo. Also, please take precautionary measures (senokot) for constipation. It really is awful and can be avoided. I am sending prayers that your mom's treatments are successful. Please keep us posted. Sandra
  10. Hi Tammy. I am sending you a prayer for benign results and a speedy recovery. Sandra
  11. My sympathies Denise, to you and Tom, and Bob's family. May he rest in peace. Sandra
  12. Thanks for posting your good news hear Annette. We needed it! Best wishes on your next surgery. After that though, I would still hold the chemo discussion. Some here have done it for preventative purposes, like a bit of insurance. In the meantime just rest up and take care of yourself in prep for your surgery. Sandra
  13. YUM for yogourt....it has to be the right kind though! Escargot
  14. Hi Kathi and welcome to this site. I am sorry you need to be here but it is a great place for information and support. I am currently on navalbine, 2 weeks on and 1 week off for 4 cycles and then a scan to see if it is working. It seems that there are many different chemo regimens even with the same drug and the dosage is probably different as well. And I am sure there are reasons for the differences as well as success with all. You should go to cancergrace and ask your question to Dr. West. Please keep posting and let us know how you are doing. If you are not doing well we are here to help you along. We have all had our down periods. Take care Sandra
  15. Good morning everyone. Hey there Judy in Bucktail Family Fun Park Camping Resort. Glad you found some fun people to talk to. You can make fun anywhere girl. Get some rest now. And those meatballs sure sound good, I haven't had home made meatballs in years. I can just about smell them! Geesh Anne. Sounds like you need a rest too. You are one busy lady and it sounds like your evening will be busy as well. Have fun with the grandkids. I am feeling much better today. Had a bad "pain" day yesterday. I am possibly going to be participating in a clinical trial re pain mgmt. I am in the screening phase right now which involves phoning in every night and answering various questions about my pain during the day. I hope I get in and that I don't get the placebo as I am willing to try anything. I am hanging out at home today and off for a Zometa treatment later. My son is at his camp this morning. My teenage daughter is showing stronger teenage tendencies and is off to the mall with her possy of friends. I did manage to go shopping with her on Monday though. She still needs mom for some things. It rained her all night and we need it. We were going to go to a ball game last night but the rain prevented that. Oh well, I wasn't feeling that great anyways so we rented a movie instead. Hope everyone has a great day. Sandra
  16. Katy, I am so glad you took Gene in. I have learned through my journey to follow up on anything, because you never know. I hope he starts to feel better soon. Sandra
  17. Thinking of you today Caren. May it be full of fond memories. Sandra
  18. Continued prayers for your dear friend Denise. Look after yourself as well.
  19. Hi all. Yes Judy, me and many others are very grateful for your dutiful attention to the "air". It is overcast here today as well although no rain yet. I managed to get up and get my son safely to his camp this morning....in my PJ's of course! Wish me luck again tomorrow. Have a great evening everyone. Sandra
  20. Hi Katy. Fortunately I have not suffered from coughing. But many on this board have so hopefully they will be along soon to share their experiences. I do hope you are able to get it under control and that he gets a much needed break. Sandra
  21. GO KELLY is right. She gives us all much hope. It must be so nice to say that right now everyone is doing okay. Prayers that it continues that way. Sandra
  22. Hi Bruce. I am so sorry you have to worry after all this time. Yes, going to see the ocean sounds like a good plan. Enjoy that. I am sending prayers that all is okay. Sandra
  23. With all you have been through and now with Tracy's death, I can understand why you can hear lung cancer laughing it's awful laugh. I understand why you feel spent. I have not heard the laugh yet, so I am hear to catch you and to hold you up through this awful time. Others here will as well. I am thinking of Tracy today. She was a very bright light and in my short friendship with her she taught me lots. Cancer did not win against her. She is in heaven now and pain free. God, not cancer, rescued her when she needed it. I know she is up there now encouraging us all to go on and to enjoy every day the best we can. Together we do make a difference and can mute out that laughter when it does make its appearance. And we will hold each other up when needed. Many hugs to you Kasey Sandra
  24. good morning everyone. Well you sure are getting around Judy. You "sound" better today. I would love to go fishing with you. I have always wanted to do the lazy day fish by the river. I have gone fishing for salmon twice in my youth but that is a much different experience. Put your line in, get your quota fast and head on out. Heidi, it does sound like you had an awesome party. Good for you girl, I like a good party. The neighbours will get over it. We are still having our streak of hot dry weather. We had the driest June on record in 50 years. Nice, but lots of forest fires about and high risk of many more. I think I am over my 2 days of post chemo sleepy days. I hope so as I have to get up and get my son to day camps for the next two weeks. I will for sure be driving in my PJ's so will try not to break any laws. Have a great Sunday everyone. Sandra
  25. Geesh...I suspect the answer to that is not go swimming. Ask the doc for sure though. Keeping it dry is virtually impossible, even when showering. Kudos for wanting to get out and exercise though, maybe you can find something else. Sandra
