I met with the Oncologist today to get the results of my chest x-ray. NED!!!!!!! September will be my 2 year anniversary since lobectomy, so one more NED result and I graduate to 6 month test.
  3. Sandra sounds like you had a great weekend. Are you sure that a Prairie girl can tell what a whale looks like ???? LOL I went to the farm so I will trade you a buffalo for a whale. LOL Great to hear you had such a nice time with your visiting sister.
  4. Jamie that is great news !!!!! Enjoy your summer.
  5. JOKE OF THE DAY How Smart Is Your Right Foot? Trust me try this, it takes only few seconds. This is so funny and will boggle your mind. You will keep trying it to see if you can outsmart your foot. But you can't!!! 1. While sitting at your desk, lift your right foot off the floor and make clockwise circles with it. 2. Now, while doing this, draw the number "6" in the air with your right hand. Your foot will change direction!!!

    cancer

Mike I agree with what you and everyone else has said. And by posting this you have already made a difference for me anyway. The Relay For Life cancer fundraiser is here tonight. My daughter volunteered and has put alot of effort into it. I had not planned to attend because of the lack of support for L/C. But after reading your post yesterday, I called her last night and I am going tonight. The first lap is for cancer survivor's and I am going to walk it and she wants to walk with me. So thank you Mike.
  7. Great news Linda. Congratulations !!!! I bet Alberta is rockin tonight with your celebration.
  8. OK prairie girl. We both joined at the same time and pulled each other through some tough times. We also promised to kick each other's butt if we got down. So if you have difficulty sitting tomorrow you know why. We have a hockey game to watch together and that will be when the Leafs win the cup. So we will both be around for a looong time waiting for that game. LOL
  9. Hi Evalyn I live in Yellowknife, NWT, but originally from Newfoundland. Drop us a line if we can help in any way.
  10. Where Sandra ? Peace Arch ? Not familiar with that but are you trying to dodge border patrol ? I think you are leading me astray and will get me in trouble. LOL
  11. Hi Alissa About a month after my Dad died, I was laying in bed one night. My Dad was there in the corner of my bedroom. He told me about things he said were going to happen. One of those things I vividly remembered was about some property we owned. We had a few parcels of land. He told me there would be a family dispute and also who would end up with each parcel of land. He told me my older brother would end up with one particular parcel because he would build a house there. About 5 years after my Dad's death my brother did get married and built a house where Dad said he would. About 12 years after my dad's death, there was a family dispute over land when an uncle we never had anything to do with tried to take some land that didn't belong to him. When the dust settled the land was all divided up and each member got a parcel just as Dad had told me. I was only 8 when Dad died and came to me that night. I did not have any knowledge or interest in property but always remembered that night and what he told me. I think those that have passed look over us whether we see them or not.
  12. Hi Amy So sorry that you have a reason to be here. You will find great support from members on here. They are also very knowledgeable in dealing with this terrible disease. When questions arise, post them here and most likely some member has experienced the same thing and can help with an answer. I certainly know what it is like not being able to sleep at night. Especially in the early stages of diagnosis and treatment. Take care and please keep posting.
  13. I would say a good neighbor. I only have 1 neighbor on the farm and they live 1/2 mile away. We spend alot of time together when I go down either quading, BBQ'ing, sitting around a campfire, etc. Usually enjoying a pop. LOL
  14. Hi Pixie It is great to hear that you have such support around you. You will also find members here very supportive as well as knowledgeable. We do know how you are feeling because we have been there. Most of us have found that after you start treatment the fear turns to fighting mode. Please keep posting and updating us on how your treatments are going.
  15. Yes Ellen we have leash laws here as well in the City. But this was just outside the City on Great Slave Lake. That was why we were so concerned because it was near a wooded area and very few houses. My 2 dogs never wander off but Buddy chased another dog this time. Sandra it was great here yesterday. Hit 18C ( 65F ) and people in shorts was a common sight. Our faces really got sunburned from being out on the lake. Same temps. today and the 17 hours daylight now is really nice.
  16. Thankful for long daylight hours here. My son took my dogs for a walk and one wandered away from him. Searched for 9 hours because it was in a wooded area where wolves are common. Once darkness fell they would have gotten the dog. Found him at 10PM just at dusk. He found his way back from the mainland, across the ice, to the island where he had left my son. He just stayed there howling. He was a very happy dog when I found him.

    It's not cancer!

Great news Jan !!! So happy to read this. Now please enjoy your summer.
  18. The holiday in May is Victoria day here.
  19. Happy anniversary Rich !!!! I can only echo previous comments on how much of an inspiration you are for others on here. Remind us again in another 7 years.
  20. CONGRATULATIONS !!!!!! 4 years is a great milestone. NED is certainly your Mom's friend and we love hearing these stories on here.
  21. Well I think I better reply to this Air or Judy will hunt me down. LOL We do not a a wide variety of birds this far north. I counted maybe 25 bald eagles on the weekend so that is a sure sign spring is here. We have ravens here and they are just crows on steroids. Quite a bit larger but they are supposed to be 1 of the most intelligent birds. And yes TS they can mock sounds. Sometimes I think it is a human making the noises. it is not very nice when it sounds like they are making fun of you. LOL I have seen 2 ravens get on the same side of a garbage can and begin jumping up and down to knock the cover off. If a dog is tied on in the yard, one raven will sit on the fence and distract the dog while the other goes in and eats the dog food.
  22. Of course I like chicks Judy. Want to exchange recipe's ? LOL
  23. Hang in there Lynn. I understand that things look difficult right now but from what you are saying, my opinion is that you are heading in the right direction. The choice you made may be difficult but not doing anything and something else happening would be worse. I think you are showing your love and dedication by trying to help Nick even though it is causing you so much pain. Nick has had alot going on in his life in the last while.
  24. I think if we follow Judy, myself and Sandra might get deported!!!!!!!
  25. Well it looks like I'll be watched 24/7 on both sides of the border. And Becky I am skeered of your backhand so maybe I will take Sandra up on her offer of the roof rack. No worries about cranking the A/C Becky. April is a loooong month. And if you haven't seen the calender that Patti and Shelli did, oh well.... LOL where's my buddy Randy ? So far it is me and all you ladies.... ( now this is a " Just For Fun " post )
