    Females/Males

Katie touched on this in a thread last week and it got me thinking. Why do you think there are more females than males on this site ? Are there more female L/C survivor's than male ? Does females do more online research than males ? What are your thought's...
  5. Hey Patti great looking family. I would say all the females in your family had to beat the guy's off with sticks. Great looking ladies. We have heard so much about Nick, it is great to be able to put a face to the name. Thanks.
  6. Debbie I think the loneliness you are feeling is understandable. Alot of your time, especially in the last 3.5 years, was devoted to caring for Alan. Your family and friends are there for you now and you should lean on them. Take care.
  7. That is a good one Denise !!!

  9. Hi dfourer You have certainly been doing something right. Congratulations on being a survivor!!! You have joined a great group of people where the member' s are great and very knowledgeable.
  10. Thank you everyone for their replies. My friends daughter in law is checking the replies. Thanks Rochelle I'm sure the information will help them alot.
  11. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family Deb.
  12. Hi Christine I just found this site in November. I think I made every mistake possible, no profile, post in the wrong forum, etc. You took me under your wing and moved my post where they were supposed to be, Pm'ed me with instructions on how to do the profile, etc. It was that original support that kept me coming back. I agree with some earlier comments that maybe you need a break because you have been through alot. I don't agree with you staying away because you do not belong here. Us cancer survivor's really appreciate the support of the caregivers on this site. Take a break Chris if you need it but you should not feel that you don't belong here. Take care.
  13. A friend of mine has small cell L/C and also bone mets. He has done research online and came across a site in Calgary, Alberta. A Naturalpath claims he has a 75% success rate if the patient hasn't had radiation or chemo. This drops to 21% if the patient has had radiation or chemo. Does any members here have a comment on this ?
  14. Take a picture. Not great at that but I do not like having my picture taken and I can only paint stickmen so...
  15. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Take care Gail.

    5 months!!

Great news Denise. The months will turn into years.
  17. Congratulations Carol !! You certainly had plenty to celebrate.
  18. Hi Sarah Glad you found this site. You will find the members here supportive and has a lot of experience with L/C issues. I also had my upper left lobe removed. I was staged 1B as well and was given similar information as you on the preventative chemo. My first Oncologist recommended it but the surgeon, pathologist, and internal organs specialist recommended to not have it. I did alot of research online on studies that were done. I asked members here who recommended the chemo. I asked for a second opinion from Oncologist at the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton. He sent it to his 5 colleagues for their opinion. 2 said not to have it, and 3 said to leave it up to the patient but if I decided to have chemo, they would include that studies did not support my decision. I had 4 rounds of chemo, Cisplatin/Vinerolbine, which I finished in April.

  20. Great news Kelly. Congratulations !!!
  21. Hi Steve Welcome to this site. You will find the members here very supportive and knowledgeable. I was diagnosed as Stage 1B last September and had my upper left lobe removed. I elected to have 4 rounds of adjuvant chemo as preventative as well.
  22. I'll do this in sections because my 1 finger will get tired. LOL Most of you from chat will recall that my daughter and her husband are quading enthusiast. They go out every weekend with 20 or so of their friends. They decided to have a quad themed wedding. The wedding cake had a quad as a topper along with tire imitation tire tracks around each layer. The tables all had glass bowls partially filled with sand and a miniature quad, etc,The wedding procession from the church, through town to the reception location included approximately 30 quads with my daughter and her husband leading the way. So all these quads were parked outside the church and got quite a few stares from passers by. Unfortunately her wedding dress went up against the tire so she had a black mark on the bottom. But they enjoyed. I'll start on the unique recption next.
  23. No pictures of me Patti. LOL I left Buddy home because I thought the bus might show up with Katie's dog driving. Yes Muriel it is a story. Alot of brides would have been upset but my daughter took it in stride and everyone still had a great time. it definitely had it's memories. LOL
  24. Thanks Randy. The wedding report may have to go in Just for Fun forum as well. It was definitely different. Especially when the entire City lost power for 3 hours in the middle of a bad thunder and lightning storm. LOL But the best was made out of a bad situation including my daughter standing on the tailgate of a truck to throw her bouquet.
  25. Debbie I am so very sorry to hear this. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
