You and your family are in my prayers also. Make memories with the baby with pictures, videos, tape recordings, whatever you can! I am doing that with my grandson (4years old) and we are having SOOOOO much fun doing it! We have tapes of us playing tonka trucks and flying kites, picnics in the park and both of us swinging at the park, trips to the zoo and trips to the store, all sorts of things that he will be able to go to to remember Grandma. I hope to be around long enough for him to remember me BUT in case I am not he will have lots of stuff to look at and listen to. God Bless, MO
  10. Sweetie, You and your Father are in my prayers. Strength and healing to BOTH of you at this time. God Bless, MO
  11. I welcome you also to what has become the BEST site for lung cancer on the net. We share our ups, downs and sideways moments with each other. We laugh and cry together, sometimes on the same day. We offer compassion and understanding to the new members as we have "Been there, done that and bought the Tee-shirt". We cover all forms of lung cancer and can usually offer information regarding treatment options as he have gone through them. In effect, we are family, and we fight for each other. There is nothing worse than a Dr. saying "You have 6 months", how the he** do they know that?? I was gived 5 - 8 month when I was dx'd. Guess I have been dead for 4 months now by those statistics. It is so much better if the Dr.'s. have a positive attitude when speaking with patients as there are 2 ways to take a dx of cancer: 1: You can lay down and let the cancer do what it wants in which case you will have a limited life span. 2: You can FIGHT the cancer with everything available to you in which case you have a better chance of getting in to remission or at least reaching stability. I and most of the members have choosen to FIGHT. Some have choosen to not go through the chemo/radiation and to live the best life they can. It has to be a personal decision though, it can't come from a Dr! In any case, please feel free to contact Rick, KatieB or any of us if you would like more information. God Bless, MO

My company gives us our bdays off with pay so I took advantage of it, lol. Next adventure is leaving Kansas City on the 4th of June to fly to MN returning home on the 8th of June. I am really looking forward to this trip! Thanks again!!! God Bless, MO
  15. I came to realize early after dx that I was not afraid to die as I do believe that God has something much better planned for me. That is not to say that I am not sad about it because I know it will cause pain for those I leave behind. I spend a lot of time talking to my kids and friends about the fact that I don't want a "funeral" I want a CELEBRATION cause by then I will be in Gods home and will have no more pain or worries! I think they all understand that and I know my Pastor and his wife will help see that it happens like I want. I believe we leave this world but the next place we go is sooooooooooooo much better it can't be a bad thing! God Bless, MO
  16. My sclc came back as a combo of sclc / non small cell and is in my liver and lymphs. I am still able to take chemo and while it isn't working real well in the liver it is holding down the lymphs. I still work 5 days a week and do a few things around the house. Are your Fathers blood counts real low? That is the only time I can't get chemo. My Dr. cuts mine in 1/2 if needed or I get 2/3 sometimes but as long as my counts aren't to bad I get something. Your Father and family are in my prayers. God Bless, MO
  17. (((((Ginny))))), I am so sorry for your loss. May God wrap you in his healing arms and help you through the days ahead. God Bless, MO
  18. I had radiation that hit my esophogus so I went for a few weeks without eating. I have lost 70# and now seem to be holding it about the same (Up 2# one week, down 2# the next). My DR has told me he doesn't want me to lose anymore (First time in my life they have said THAT). I only have steroids one day a week with my pre-med and I DO eat like a horse that day. I guess I am glad thats all I get, lol. God Bless, MO
  19. Have they done an xray to rule out a plueral effusion? That can cause pain in that area also. I get a nasty pain when it is time to get mine drained and it has never collapsed my lung so far (squashed it but not collapsed). Healing prayers headed your way! God Bless, MO

  24. MO is still here, lol. I have had fluid drained several times and yes, it does feel better right away. They can do a talc procedure if it becomes a big problem ( I get drained every month and a half or so). Ask the Dr. about it when you see him. God Bless and best wishes, MO
  25. La. jury orders tobacco firms to pay $500M Cigarette makers ordered to help fund stop-smoking programs The Associated Press Updated: 3:01 p.m. ET May 21, 2004NEW ORLEANS - A jury Friday ordered the tobacco industry to pay $590 million for nicotine patches, telephone hot lines, advertising and other programs to help Louisiana smokers kick the habit. Legal experts believe the class-action lawsuit is the first case in which a jury has found that tobacco companies should pay for such programs. Lawyers for the smokers had wanted $1 billion — an amount tobacco lawyers deemed excessive. They said two to three years of programs, at up to $9 million a year, would give the state’s smokers time to get counseling and try various aids to quit smoking. The lawsuit had wanted the smoking cessation programs to last up to 25 years, but jurors set them at 10 years. The verdict came in the second phase of a lengthy trial. In July, the same jury found that cigarette makers had deceived the public with an addictive product and schemed to market cigarettes to children. It rejected calls for medical monitoring for present and former smokers, but said the industry should provide free smoking cessation programs. The current phase was to determine how much the industry should spend on the programs and what those programs should be. A third phase, without the jury, will be used to determine how the programs are run. The jury heard about two months of testimony and deliberated for three days before returning the verdict. The $590 million will also go toward supplies of nicotine gum and grants for anti-smoking programs in church groups and other organizations. None of the smokers in the lawsuit can get individual damages. The plaintiffs include any Louisiana resident who smoked before the mid-1990s, when the suit was filed. The defendants are R.J. Reynolds, Lorillard, Philip Morris USA and Brown & Williamson. Poor Babies NOT!!!!
