    My sister

Hey Mike - my daughter & I came home from hospital in Edmonton on Friday and she is doing well. It is so good to see her walking again (albeit with a limp right now) as the surgery was a success. It is nice to be back posting! We had a very busy summer as we acquired a shop for our business and unfortunately it took up way too much time. Things seem back to semi-normal so I am hopeful I can pop in a little more often. I missed you guys! We have so much to be grateful for this Thanksgiving (ours is this weekend) and I plan to thoroughly enjoy family, home, good food and friends. I am wishing you all the same (now or in November). Linda
  2. Loved it!!! How exciting to hear how cyberknife works and what great results Joel has had. They say behind every great man is a great woman - this is the proof! Way to go Joel & Maryanne! Hugs, Linda
  3. Hi Early Stagers - just a shout out to say hi to all of you and hope things are well. I know a lot of us don't visit as much as we used to but to all of my "peeps" I just wanted to let you know I think of you often and hope life is treating you well! If you get a moment drop a line and say "hi". Hugs, Linda
  4. Hello and welcome to the place that no-one wants to be part of, but are glad to have available if the need is there. I am sorry that you have need to be here. I only had one lobe of my lung removed so I can't really help you on how life will be with just one lung; however, I am sure that others who are more experienced with that will be along shortly to share. No matter what stories you get back - everyone is different and everyone has different responses to surgery. You are young and that is definitely a plus. From your posting it sounds as though you are one very strong and determined lady. I will keep you in my thoughts that you have minimal pain and good results with the possible upcoming surgery and that you can soon be back to stable. When you know what the plan is as to surgery dates, etc., please let us know and we will be there for you. Linda
  5. Hi Jamie - it is great that life is busy and happy. I miss the photo of your smiling face, but hey, that dog is pretty darn cute!!! Take care, Linda
  6. Barb - a HUGE congratulations on 10 years!!! Your description of the walk into the hospital reminded me so much of mine - thankfully that walk brought you these 10 years with many more to come. I am so-o-o happy for you. LOVE your husband - what a hoot! Linda

Mike - I am just at the hospital with my daughter (knee injury) and while she is in with the doctor's before surgery I decided to check in and see how things turned out with your sister. Yeah for bruises - yes, Annette is totally right we are definitely crazy people to be so happy about bruises! It made my day to read this good news. Linda

    My sister

Mike ... you know you have my prayers that this is nothing troublesome for your sister. I can't believe how many people I have talked to that have spots come and go (darned spots) and I am hopeful that this will be the same for your sister. Take care my friend, Linda
  9. Annette - I was just catching up on everyone and wanted to say a huge congratulations on your one year excellent CT scan results. One year is huge and I am so happy for you!!!! Linda
  10. Kasey - fashionably late (or just too lazy to get here on time) but I am sending HUGE congratulations your way on six years and counting. I remember when I first joined here the posts with your smiling face were one of the ones I couldn't read enough about. I am so happy that you reached this milestone -not without heartache along the way I know, but you have given much inspiration to so many and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Hugs, Linda
  11. Congratulations!!! I am always late to the party but wanted to dance to the happy news passing the 5 year mark ...way to go Henk & Ellen!!!! Linda
  12. Awesome news Cindy!!!! I wanna be just like you and Debi when I grow up ! Seriously, CONGRATULATIONS - I am so-o-o happy for you. Hugs, Linda
  13. Thanks for the update Michelle. Tell your mom and dad we are rooting for her to get rid of this bug quickly. I am glad to hear that she is feeling better today and hope that she improves by the minute! Linda
  14. Judy, honey, I am not sure how I missed such an important post from you and I am so sorry I am responding so late. As to the under the bed comment - I think it was Becky and there was a baseball bat involved! We all know too well about the worry monster that lives inside. There is not much I can say that the others haven't so eloquently put, other than I am sending you many cyber hugs, positive thoughts and prayer that the troubles you are experiencing have a simple answer (NOT cancer). I don't know about you, but sometimes just voicing the fear takes away a little bit of it's power. Hope the same is true for you. Take care Judy - keeping positive thoughts for you. Hugs, Linda
  15. Sue ...what ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC NEWS!!! I am so happy for you and your mom and all her family and friends. I don't need to tell you guys to enjoy the summer and enjoy the six month break because I KNOW you all will. Take care, Linda
  16. Ronnie - what a wonderful update... and what a difference a couple of weeks make! It sounds as though her team is right on top of things and taking care of her quickly when situations arise. I am so happy that your company is giving you the time you need to attend appointments, chemo, etc. with her. I am especially happy to see your smiley face at the end - I am smiling back at you both! Take Care, Linda

FANTASTIC NEWS!!! I am so happy for your "nothing remarkable" and that you get a six month break from this cancer crap! I heard that wine is great for the heart (or at least that is what I keep telling myself ) so I hope you thoroughly enjoyed that wine with dinner. Hugs, Linda
  18. Lesley - welcome, although I am so sorry you have need to find us. You will find many caring folks here to help you through "whatever". It sounds like you have been through a lot ... but I LOVE your comment that cancer is packing its bags! Now it can continue with moving on out! Take care, Linda
  19. Hi Ronnie - so sorry to hear of what you and your wife have been going through. When my SIL was having difficulty eating it was finally discovered that she found it easier to swallow and digest things such as Ensure or Carnation instant breakfasts (with some well blended foods added-banana, etc). She had absolutely no interest in eating, but after trial and error, something she could tolerate was finally found. Does her doctor have any ideas for you about the eating/moving difficulties? I would imagine if she is taking in very little nutrients that she hasn't the strength to be active. I know there are medications that enhance the appetite as well; however, I am not versed in those, so I will wait until other members with knowledge of this come along. I am so happy her back pain is gone! Hopefully these other issues will resolve quickly. Linda
  20. Welcome Barb, although I am sorry you have need to be here, I am glad you found us. I don't have much to add to the already excellent advice from others. Good luck with the move - that is stressful in and of itself - don't forget to be kind to yourself. Linda

Hey Dave - I was thinking about you the other day and here you are! I love when stuff like that happens. Congrats on moving up to once per year. Love the tat - Sandra and Carol are loving it too I'm sure. If you are speaking of the Carol (dancing in the streets) that was on this board - (I am pretty sure you are talking about Sandra L) I miss them both alot - such a huge loss. Glad you will be around more often - totally understand needing a break, but happy to have you back. Take care, Linda
  22. Hi Judy - I am with you all on this one! Recently I was asked "did you smoke" when a casual acquaintance found out I had been diagnosed with lung cancer years ago and my response was "Neither answer will make you safe". Her mouth dropped open and then she apologized. Afterwards we had a lengthy discussion about the lung cancer stats and I do believe that is one person that will never ask that question of someone again. My motto - educate one person at a time - my firm belief is that they don't mean to be cruel, they simply want a guarantee that they are safe and it won't happen to them if they don't smoke. That belief keeps the anger away and allows me not to take it personal (whether it's right or wrong it's my way of dealing with the stigma!?!?) Linda
  23. I am so sorry to hear about your mom and all that she has been through. It will be good for you to get a chance to spend some time with her this weekend and get some answers to some of your questions. I can't imagine how difficult it must be for you living far away. I am sorry that you are finding yourself in the position of requiring this type of education - I truly am. Linda
  24. Hi Robert - welcome. I will be adding my prayers that the trial will be a go for you. Keep us posted! Linda
  25. Hi - Dana and I both have similar friends. My friend told me that it was perfectly okay to cry the blues to her whenever I wished as it wasn't as if I had just "stubbed my toe" (both great friends I think!) Anyhow, there are many ups and downs on this lung cancer journey and with that come many emotions. So keep venting when the need arises and we will be here to listen. Take care, Linda
