  1. Denise, I hope you feel better soon. Put all those grandkids to work for you!!!!! -Shannon
  2. Lillie, My Mom was also diagnosed w/ Stage IV adenocarcinoma in March. She is so young and so healthy so iit was really hard to deal with. At first I was doom and gloom and could think nothing but negative thoughts. I realize now (after reading about people on this site and others) that miracles happen and she may live a lot longer than I thought. (My mom met a lady the other day that has lived 9 years after being diagnosed w/ stage IV) She has tolerated chemo very well so far. I hope that your father starts to feel better soon and try to stay positive! Best of luck with the wedding
  3. My Mom just got the CT results back. Her tumor showed 75% shrinkage!!! after only two rounds of chemo. The met in the opposite lung is almost gone. This is the first good news we have had since all of this started. Our next step is surgery to remove the main tumor and possibly the met. Very exciting. I am also having a baby on Monday (my first) and my Mom's third grandkid. She is feeling well so she will be able to be there to see him born. -Shannon
  4. Taking him off methadone can cause major withdrawl symptoms ranging from headache to nausea/vomiting/diarrhea/stomachache/sweating, etc. Did they put him on another opioid? If they did- that will help w/ the symptoms.
  5. Are they going to do it laparoscopically? If so- the recovery time should be minimal. You will just have a few small incisions that you will barely be able to see once they heal. If they have to do surgery the "old fashioned" way the initial recovery time will be a little longer. It is just a bigger incision which can make things more uncomfortable for you. You will do fine with either one- they have great pain meds these days! -Shannon
  6. Hi, I am glad that you called your oncologist just to be safe. I believe a side effect of some of these chemo agents is actual shortness of breath. My mother is on carbo/alimta/avastin and experiences shortness of breath the first week or so after her chemo treatments. From the research I have done- the shortness of breath should just be transient if it is from the actual chemo and should get better once you finish the treatments. Best of luck!- Shannon
  7. Congragulations! Best of luck on the surgery and stay positive.
  8. Thanks so much for everyone's reply!!!!
  9. Thanks. My Mom starts first round of chemo tomorrow with taxol/carboplatin/avastin. I hope she tolerates it well.
  10. My Mom was recently diagnosed with StageIV NSCLC. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with radiofrequency ablation in combination with chemo? Thanks, Shannon
