  1. After a month long battle with this terrible disease, my Dad finally went to rest on September 8th. He was diagnosed August 10th with stage iv non small cell. It had spread to the liver, lymph nodes and the brain. His liver basically shut down over the past week and his body just couldn't take it. He was brave and courageous right up until the end. The entire family was with him when he passed. We told him it was OK, that we would miss him terribly but we would do fine. We told him to go to rest, he needed it. It was an awful weekend with him so restless, unable to sleep or even get comfortable. I am so very proud to have a Dad that is so brave. He wasn't scared at all, he wasn't mad at the world. He simply accepted his fate and did it so well. I will miss him immensely and hope that one day I will meet him again. Thanks for all of your advice and comments. They really helped.
  2. Hello, I am hoping to hear some "good news" stories of anyone who has been to Mexico to see Dr. Castillo and had some success with it. We are thinking that since the docs here have not given my Dad a very promising prognosis, that we would look elsewhere. He has tumor covering 80% of his liver now and has a couple of spots on the brain which they are giving him whole head radiation for. They say that his liver is shutting down but are not really prepared to do anything to help that. He has fluid in his abdomen and legs and I have been told by alternative doctors in Arizona that this should be their main concern right now. Looking forward to your responses. Tanya
  3. Hello everyone. I am hoping to hear from anyone with a case similar to my Father's. He has stage iv nsclc with mets to liver, lymph nodes and possibly brain. He has had 4 rounds of radiation and is extremely weak. He has really bad heartburn that they attribute to the tumor being so close to his esophagus. He doen't eat very well as every time he does, he deals with the burping and a lot of pain. We try to get him to drink Boost or something like it but he doesn't seem to receptive--YET. He was hospitalized yesterday as he was just to weak to continue with his treatments from home. I feel a lot better about him being in the care of a hospital. It is either the morphine that he is on, or there could be cancer is his brain too as the last couple of days he has become confused and somewhat forgetful. I am hoping that there is someone out there with a similar case that I could speak with. I am really worried about him. He is only 46 years old and I am not ready to lose him yet!
  4. This is my first post on this site. I have found all of the stories very informative and was hoping to hear from anyone who is dealing with the same or a very similar diagnosis. My father is only 46 years old and I am having a hard time accepting his fate. I keep thinking that the doctors have maybe misdiagnosed him. Also, if anyone has done any alternative therapies (Mexico etc.), it would be great to hear from you. Thanks. Great site!!
