  1. We had a great day! Good weather and many good people. I was glad to see Ry and John with their daughter. We had around 200 walkers again. This year we had a research van from Karmanos testing smokers and former smokers. They did quite well. Usually when they don't set up appointments they have 4 people get tested. At our walk, they tested 14 and had to turn people away. Hope to see more at our walk next year. Rosanne Gianni Ferrarotti Lung Cancer Foundation
  2. Gianni Ferrarotti Lung Cancer Foundation is hosting its 2nd Walk and Rally on Sunday, September 18 at Kensington Metro Park. We are joining forces with Karmanos to combat lung cancer in a research study. The project is looking for smokers or former smokers 35 years of age or older, who have smoked more than 30 pack/years(the # of packs per day multiplied by the # of years smoked) as well as those with curatively treated head and neck cancers(regardless of smoking status) 18 years of age or older, are eligable for participation. The program includes a novel approach to lung cancer screening in the community. It is free of charge. Go to our website www.gianniscause.com for more information on the walk or research study. Thanks Rosanne
  3. We had a very good turnout at the Gianni Ferrarotti Lung Cancer Foundation golf outing. Over 137 golfers we there. Because of our success we are able to donate $20,000 to Barbara Ann Karmanos Lung Cancer Restricted Fund. We have a date for our second annual walk and rally whick will be held again at Kensington Metro Park. It's Sunday, September 18. I'll give more information in the next few months. Rosanne
  4. Hi, It's been a long time since I posted. In the fall I went back to work. But the best thing that happened was that my beautiful grandaughter, Adriana was born. Her middle name is Joy which is fitting since she brought us so much joy even though Gianni is not here to see her. I am also very busy with the Gianni Ferrarotti Lung Cancer Foundation that my daughter and I started after Gianni's death. We already had a walk which some of you attended-another will be Sunday, September 18 at Kensington. We raised $14,000 and gave $10,00 to Karmanos Lung Cancer Restricted Fund. We helped two families at Christmas who are dealing with lung cancer. On May 7 we are hosting our first golf outing and silent auction at Moose Ridge in South Lyon, MI. Again the net proceeds will go to Karmanos. I would love to see some of you there. For more information go to our website www.gianniscause.com. Any questions-email us at info@gianniscause.com. Thanks Rosanne

  6. Well, our walk and rally was a great success!! We had over 200 people walking and it was a wonderful day as far as weather goes. There were three people from Karmanos, two talked. One is looking for smokers or ex-smokers for a study. If interested look on our site www.gianniscause .com We had some friends from LCSC there. David A's family and Rochelle and John walked. I hope I didn't miss anyone else. I have some photos but don't know how to put them on the site. Rosanne

  13. Hi everyone, I know I don't post much but I am definately a lurker. I left for Italy on June 24 and returned on July 22. Gianni's sisters and family live there. I had a wonderful visit with them for two weeks, then Gianna, Tony(daughter and son), 2 neices, and one friend joined me on July 8. His town had a mass to mark the one year anniversary of his death-July 10, followed by a typical Italian dinner put on by his sisters and cousins. We had a great time and did a lot of traveling-Venice, Florence, and Rome. I brought two albums of pictures showing Gianni's life that were put up at the funeral home. His sisters and family loved seeing them even though it was hard for them. It wasn't very hard being there, but when I came back it was difficult. I guess I was going back to reality. I'll be very busy with Janice's baby shower(my son's wife)-baby is due in Oct. And our lung cancer walk is on Sept 18-so I'll be busy with that also. Rosanne

  15. Hi I have been lurking everyday. I've been busy setting up a foundation in Gianni's name and setting up a walk for September 18. I am also getting ready to go to Italy to visit Gianni's sisters for a month. My son, daughter, girlfriend, and two neices are meeting me in July. I visit the site daily but am not very good about writing. I still think of you guys all the time and like to keep up with what's going on with you. Rosanne

    anniversary

Today would have been mine and Gianni's 31 wedding aniversary. I was in a funk all day. We never celebrated our anniversaries in a big way but it still was our day and he's not here. It's like a big hole. Lung cancer sucks!!! Rosanne

  22. I can relate to this because when my father died my mom really had a hard time. She relied on us for everything. My sister went and did everything for her around the house because she felt sorry fer her. One day I called and she was out of breath, I asked her what was wrong-she said "I just walked up the stairs from doing laundry". I called my sister and told her to STOP NOW-no more laundry. She also wanted me to go get her (in the opposite direction) to go out to dinner on the other side of town. She was starting to quit driving. She relied on us for many other things but, these were the wake up calls. I was the only one to tell her she needed help (always the oldest). She thought I was so mean. I was very afraid that she would shrivel up and die. I made an appointment with a therapist who specialized in older people. I went the first time and after a breif discussion of why we were there, the therapist told me to go shopping and come back to get mom. Eventually she liked going to her anmd didn't want me to waste my time going with her if I was not in the session. She went for two years and she did become my old mom after a couple of years. We call those the dark years. Of course we help her a lot more around the house now because she is alone and getting older -79. But she is back to being independent. Good luck. Rosanne
  23. Happy belated birthday. Rosanne
